    Infinity USB Phoenix is connected and powersuppliedby a PC thru a USB1.1 or USB2.0 compatible port orhub. The USB connection is always necessary, even ifthe Infinity USB is only used in Phoenix mode.

    To use the Phoenix mode, an additional serial-cablemust be connected to the PC. If the Phoenix features

    are not needed, the serial connection is notnecessary. A standard 9-9 male-female straight-thrucable can be used.

    After the hardware has been connected for the firsttime, the blue LED wil start flashing to show that theprogrammer is connected to the PC, but the driverhas not yet been installed or loaded.

    Quickstart guideSoftware installation

    Software installation is common for all operatingsystems:

    1) Insert the CD in the CD-ROM drive.2) Run setup.exe on the CD3) Click the Infinity USB Phoenix icon

    The Infinity USB Phoenix setup program will theninitiate.

    Choose an install location (or pick the defaultlocation). You have the option of creating a shortcutto Infinity USB on your desktop or in the Quick Launchbar.Once setup is complete you can choose to launchInfinity USB by clicking Finish.

    Programming a card requires only 3 steps:

    1) in the cardreader, and make surethe right card is selected in the combobox.

    2) one or more files by pressing the open icons.

    3) Press the large button (not the small part withthe arrow) to write the card.

    Phoenix modePhoenix mode

    To use the Phoenix mode of Infinity USB, a serial cablemust be attached from the programmer to the PC.

    All 3rd party software will use this COM-port forcommunication.

    Phoenix mode is entered by pressing the Phoenixbutton on the main window. Youll be prompted tochoose between a frequency of 3.58, 3.68 or6.00Mhz, and either Phoenix or Smartmouse mode.

    Pressing will make the red LED light, to showthe programmer is in Phoenix mode. At the sametime, the program will be minimized to tray.

    All software supporting a COM-port can now be usedfor communicating with the smartcard.

    If the Infinity USB Phoenix hardware is mostly used inPhoenix mode (or if Phoenix mode is needed beforethe software is loaded for instance for passwordcontrol), its possible to setup the Infinity USB Phoenixthis way.

    Enter the Phoenix-tab in the options | general menu,and choose the needed Phoenix / Smartmousemode. Upon power-up of the hardware, the chosenmode will immediatly be entered.It is ofcourse possible to exit this mode again, simplystart up the software and choose exit phoenix mode.
