As an interpretation of Italian vernacular, Zafferano sits comfortably into its
Asian context.
The most spectacular aspects of this restaurant in the clouds, are the dishes
being served from the twin show-kitchensalthough the views of Marina Bayand Singapores CBD are unrivaled.
Unique to the 7,000 sq ft space is an antipasti bar which features a 60-foot
long, Rosa Peralba marble wall, which displays aged Parma Ham and truehome-country salami.
Also featured is the widest variety of by-the-glass Italian wine, which is madeavailable to patrons from a specially designed, self-service dispensary.
Stepping up onto the central dining platform, the stunning views are even
more visible. A signature feature and central within the restaurants area, alarge, circular bar is crowned with a sculpture of thousand saffron tendrils
fashioned from steel a clever twist on the restaurants namesake.
From an operations point of view, the space is multi-functional as a breakfast
venue, lunch spot, cocktails on the terrace, dinner, supper and late loungeclub.
Fully convertible for functions, all the furniture is designed to respond to the
specific desires of guest preferences.
Last but far from least are the amazing 270 views available from the timber
terrace surrounding the whole dining area and one of the best, is l ookingback into the restaurant at Italian lighting, colour, marble and leather.

At gatherings with family and friends, we always seem to end up in thekitchen this was the most important aspect of the brief given by owner
and dreamer for this assignment to design and build a 2,000 sqft 2nd storeyrestaurant.
Dining in the kitchen was the main driver in approaching the concept ofSur, the first Nuevo Latino Cuisine in Singapore. Sur in Spanish means south.
Where a typical restaurant will have a separate dining and kitchen space, and
sometimes show a kitchen featuring the chef in action behind a viewing glasspanel, Sur takes a step further and infuses both dining and cooking into one
space; hence giving you the feeling that you are inside the kitchen. Another
advantage to this set up is you get to see how your food is being preparedand can interact directly with the host.
Sur provides a variety of settings; from the chefs, high seating, table stylealong the open kitchen; to the flexible dining chairs and handcrafted tiledtables; through to intimate banquette seating upholstered in decorative
Persian style carpet at the mezzanine level which hosts the pastry kitchen.
The South American heritage and culture is captured through carefully
selected materials and finishes. Raw concrete bar top and floors, weatheredtimber panels with a mix of different tiles and placement, provides an aged
and authentic look.
The produce filled racks and shelves display traditional Hispanic flavours and
spices, bursting with colour, perfects this warm and inviting environment,creating a setting that transports you back to South America.
