I am an architect from Portugal living in

Copenhagen. I am searching for an office where I

can invest my academic knowledge and apply my

skills into an enriching practical environment. I

am professional, creative, motivated, organized,

hard working and able to work under pressure. ACADEMIC I have a Master in Architecture which consists

in a 6 year commitment to develop a profound

knowledge in the discipline of architecture and

urbanism. Fernando Távora, Álvaro Siza and

Eduardo Souto de Moura, students and teachers

of this school, are the best example of the

pedagogical, scientific and artistic skills that my

faculty embraces.

My final Master Theses is based on the relation

between architecture and cinema, entitled:

Lisboa Cidade e Indentidade (Lisbon City and

Identity) with the orientation of the Architect Luís

Urbano1.

Dear team,

EXPERIENCE ABROAD Since the last couple of years I travelled a lot and

lived in a few European cities, getting inspired

and learning different languages, cultures and

architecture views. During this time i a have been

acquiring practical experience in Netherlands,

Germany and most recently Denmark.

In Netherlands, Delft, I did a master year at

TuDelft, integrated in Tonny Fetton’s Master

Course. I also made an Urban Competition with

an international team and we won the 2nd prize.

In Germany, Berlin, I made an internship at

Numrich Albrecht Klumpp Architekten2.

There i participated in several projects: building

renovation, sustainable construction, hospital

construction details, competitions (school (2nd

prize), town hall, university). I also made an

internship for a fashion event called THEKEY.TO3.

I was part of a team of architects that where in

charge of designing and building the fashion

stands for the fashion exhibition.

In Denmark, Copenhagen, I was recently

working for David Garcia Studio4 ,

developing projects for extreme environments.

The last project i was involved, was the Venice

Biennale of 2012. I was part of one of the Danish

pavilion teams (David Garcia Studio, Henning Larsen Architects5 and Kittaa Arkitekter). We

developed a new masterplan paradigm for one of

Greenland’s most touristic cities : Ilulissat.

EXTREME ENVIRONMENT 2012 .: chernobyl, ukrania .: map David Garcia Studio

MAP (Manual of Architectural Possibilities) is a

publication of projects and visions that arise through

research into territories, which can be concrete or abstract,

but always put into question. MAP is not a magazine (it

only has two pages) and it is not a book (it is issued twice

a year). MAP presents itself as a folded poster (A1) where

information is immediate, dense and objective in one

side, and architectural and subjective on the other. MAP

is a guide to potential actions in the built environment, a

folded encyclopedia of the possible.

INTRODUCTION BY PETER COOK It is an eerie coincidence, that on the 25th anniversary of

Chernobyl accident, another disaster of similar gravity, hit

Fukushima in the coast of Japan. Chernobyl ans it’s exclusion

zone have become even more relevant as landscape of

reference and speculation. Survival is both a question of fact

and a question of faith - even if the two concepts do nof often

equate. Atomic energy forces us to choose: with a certain

fear (even in the hearts of the most ‘gung-ho’ technologists)

that the whole business might be a terrifying threat to our

life system.

EDUCATIONAL 2010 .: hannover, germany .: second prize Numrich Albrecht Klumpp Architekten

The competition plot is inserted in a residential area and it

has very good access by metro, train, bus and car. The plot

delimits the central square and is located in between the built

and the green mass of farmland. It is an important mark for

the definition of the urban grid. The pre-existence, a basic,

secondary and high school, for 5000 students, was built in

the 70’s. It is strict, massive and has very dark interiors. It

longs for a new “face” and fresh illuminated areas.

numrichalbrechtklumpp competition

A new school emerges and the old building has to be

demolished in different phases so the classes can be

continued while the construction is being made. Concerning

the large concentration of students from different ages in this

set, the proposal is based on a fluid and organic volumetry,

adapted to the rough ground, where all the common spaces

are connected linking six rectangular volumes. Four of them

are the classrooms, each one with different teaching levels.

One is for the administrative functions and the last one is for

the canteen facilities. Stands out the auditorium in a central

position, marking the entrance of the school.

FASHION 2010 .: berlin, germany Green affairs & Fairactivities

Thekey.to is an international event for green fashion,

sustainable lifestyle and culture in Berlin. It brings together

twice a year, the most innovative and contemporary brands

of the international green fashion and design scene, brands

at the leading edge in terms of successfully merging style and

a responsible approach. The role of architecture in this event

is crucial to make it a success. The building is an old factory

that has long open spaces giving the natural feeling of a route

and its organization needs to intensify this feature, since

the theme for this year was acceleration. By organizing the

stands in a longitudinal way, taking advantage of the natural

light and playing with the translucent cardboard materials,

the atmosphere of the event resulted in a fluid and intensive

experience. Each stand had its personal custom-made eco

furniture, which made the architectural design a perfect

symbiosis for this event.

URBAN DESIGN 2009 .: venlo, netherlands .: second prize .: Tudelft Basti .: Inês .: Nikolas .: Max

Venlo needs a joyful place that provides opportunities for

unexpected occasions and future potentials. Attracting

creative minds and dynamic forces that occupy and

transform the city is our main ambition. We focus on

young people and upcoming generations. Education, start

up offices, sport and leisure facilities as well as the proximity

to the city centre give our target group a base. Large public

functions, carefully placed in playful tension, invite

surrounding fluxes of people to an exciting manifold mix

of situations. Young people will play a more relevant role

in Venlo and get rooted into its growing process from the

beginning. Military monuments define the main character

of the space. New large scale functions are pressing on

alive and kicking forever young

the local atmosphere. Respectfully the old structures get

introduced into a new order. All Monuments take part of

the new identity. The former military exercise area becomes

the new central square. The formermilitary hospital and hall

form the new college. The little and lonely monuments are

enforced and transformed into strong urban forms, to be

able to compete with the new big functions, added to the

site. The connection path between Blerick and the old city

center divides the plot into two parts. Situated at an urban

border, the large scale functions are placed to the peripheral

surrounding in an open space. On the other side a dense

urban core is created, containing housing, offices and public

functions, relating to Venlo and Blerick. A central square

connects it all together.

RESIDENTIAL 2006/2007 .: porto, portugal .: prof. álvaro andrade faup .: inês sousa

Casa da Música, Casa da Música Metro Station and the

Roundabout of Boavista are the urban elements transforming

the site on concern in a tension field of pedestrian paths

crossing inwards. Therefore, its reformulation urges, so

as to contemplate a comercial + residential program,

giving special attention to public and private domains. The

proposal area is delimited by two public buildings that re-

qualified this urban site: Casa da Música (Rem Koolhaas)

and Casa da Música Metro Station (Souto de Moura). The

urban restructuration aim is to counterbalance the strength

of the iconic building in search of the reestablishment of the

existing harmony that was broken by its strong volumetric

presence. It is highlighted a path that establishes a pedestrian

connection between the metro station and the roundabout

of Boavista, wide opening an initially closed space, with

the purpose of redefining the interior patio, reinforcing

the connection of the surrounding public spaces, therefore

increasing the site’s urban life.A section of the intervention

area is detailed, composed of a collective housing program

with Deck Access system.
