Symbolizing Hawaii’s rich heritage and historical connection with Japan, the Byodo-In Temple was built in 1968 to mark the 100th anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii. A replica of Phoenix Hall in the 11th-century Buddhist Temple complex in Uji, Japan, it is a cultural landmark. Byodo-In welcomes people of all faiths to worship, meditate or simply appreciate its beauty. Inside the main entrance is the magnificent nine-foot Amida Buddha statue created by Japanese sculptor Masuzo Inui.

Our spectacular new development The 10-acre hilltop Ocean View Terrace offers some of the most impressive views in the park. Designed in consultation with a respected Feng Shui master, it boasts ocean views from virtually every garden. It features a variety of memorial options including wall niches, pedestals, benches and upright monuments. Space has also been reserved for custom family estates and a Japanese garden.
