unique Summer Internship at IBa, we believe that no professional management education is complete until students are able to relate Management theory with practice in more meaningful way. as part of the academic curriculum of the program, the students of pGDM are required to take up Corporate Internship/project in reputed organizations for 6 months.

the internship is carefully designed so that it is mutually beneficial to both organization and student.

I am extremely grateful to IBa for allowing us to get great industry exposure for 6 months.

the purpose of the program is to create value for the organization and to create value for ourselves. IBa has facilitated this for us and given us an opportunity to learn from the “real world”. the projects themselves are really challenging and rewarding. the project assigned to me gave me exposure to international marketing, email campaigning, maintaining CRM, product enhancement etc. the whole SIp has helped me enhance my It skills, negotiation skills, customer facing skills and market researching skill. SIp is also a great way of networking and interfacing with a lot of new contacts which is an added advantage. It is also a platform where placement can be facilitated by getting a ppo. the SIp has taught me on application of marketing concepts to the real scenario and getting results. IBa, Bangalore provides the students with an opportunity to pursue a project for 6 months during the Summer Internship program (SIp) in the corporate world which is a rarity and is appreciated and approved by the recruiters who come for campus recruitment. 6 months of internship program in Infiniti Research would add value to my prior experience and during my internship I can relate the classroom knowledge to the practical approach followed in the corporate. In Infiniti Research, I have put the theories of market research into practice for profiling and analysing the major companies in various industries. I believe the internship program for 6 months also provides a much needed exposure to the corporate world unlike the SIp programs of 2-4 months where the focus is only on the completion of the project.

I worked there with the director of the company and she guided me in analysing the economic situation, financials and news. the most challenging job I got during my work in the company is to recommend and convince HnI clients and that experience has raised my confidence.

In next 3 month I will be more focused on the stocks of It industry. I will do estimation and valuation which will give me a nice exposure of calculated risk of the stock market. I think this 6 months of SIp is not just a part of academic but this is also a big opportunity to show our ability and competency to the corporate.

Sarita Khotani Summer internship program is the platform where we get to know a lot about the industry and about the corporate world.

During this SIp phase, we get the opportunity to understand how the corporate works and how we can apply our theoretical class room learning to the real world. this is the best learning platform that IBa has designed for their students. the duration of 6 months gives a feeling of working as a full time employee in an organization and these 6 months changes a student to a person who is ready to fit into the corporate world. the project assigned to me has given me a lot of exposure in terms of learning and personal development. So I am getting right kind of opportunity to work with all verticals and functionality of the company even with software developers. My company management is employee friendly and they allowed me to work on different projects pertaining to the sales promotion. I used this opportunity to work on different aspects of marketing and sales. Sukanta KaranFirstly, I would like to thank my mentor and Ceo prof. Manish Jain for including a 6 months internship program in our course.

this helps us learn the detailed structure of the corporates before entering the real world. For the first 3 months I had worked in RBl Bank (Ratnakar Bank ltd.). the banking sector has the most number of job openings as of now. I worked with the Business Banking team in the bank and my main objective was to generate leads in different verticals and convert them into customers. through this process I received a brief knowledge about the different services that a banking institute provides. I also learnt the strategies and initiatives that a Business Banking team produces for selling the services which would help me to negotiate in future.

Tanvi Thakkerthe company in which I did my first phase of internship was Bharat petroleum Corporation limited.

the project was based on supply chain management and the title was : “Implementation of BpCl First”.

there I had to check the tank lorries of both the Ro dealers as well the pVCo vehicles. also allocate the them according to their respective Ros.

learnings: learnt the calibration procedures, how fuel is stored, what are various losses that can occur, the ways of malpractice how the transport crew do, etc.

at the end I had to prepare a questionnaire for the dealers to understand their satisfaction level and also are they aware of the BpCl First concept. also asked their suggestions for improvement.

management SkillsIBa believes that confidence to handle life comes from knowledge and skills that use this knowledge. Reading a book on “Driving” is not the same as practicing driving. Management Skills is a set of courses, run by professor Chandra Kant, that teach students practical corporate skills as follows:

Kalakshetra (live project management)all their academic life, students have been taught to compete with others. Students do not really learn how to work in groups, towards a predefined objective. this, however, is an essential skill for success in corporate life. Kalakshetra is a platform for students to learn team management while doing a cultural activity.

at IBa, students in first year are grouped randomly to stage a set of short-duration plays on a theme, the performance of which is judged by the alumni and the faculty. this allows them to understand the concept of team formation, to learn each other’s strengths and use these qualities and their creativity to produce a play. they learn to compete with other teams but coordinate with them for common infrastructure requirements as well a budget management. enacting a play requires back-end coordination which teaches them the important of timing and support. they have to act in front of an audience which teaches them confidence and to face their fears. It also teaches them that when team members work together, they can create something awe-inspiring. Students remember the lessons of Kalakshetra more than any theoretical class on project Management.
