VAS Current Position

The VA S market, currently valued at$1.35 bn and will touch $2 bn by thestart of next year.M-VAS constitutes about 9-10 percentof the total revenues for telecom

operators in India, which is expectedto reach 18% by 2010S hort messaging service ( S MS ) aloneaccounting for 44 per cent of thatshare.CR B T holds almost 20-25 per cent of market share with 40-50 million users.GPR S currently contributes to almost7 % of MVA S revenues.USS D presently contributes 2-3% of MVAS revenues

The mobile music segment is also setto fuel up with user spending onmobile music expected to increase to$32.2 bn in 2010 compared to $13.7bn in 2007.

The revenue from mobile gaming isexpected to grow to $9.6 bn in 2011compared to $1.8 bn in 2007.

y Mobile advertising, which is animportant VA S segment, is expectedto grow consistently to reach a

valuation of $12.8 bn by 2011,compared to $2.7 bn in 2008.

W ith 3G services to be rolled out by next year, the VA S industry is expected toincrease its share manifold, with some industry estimates pegging the figure atRs.200 billion by 2015.

The 3G services will enable mobile users to access high-speed data services such as

movies on demand, mobile TV, high-speed W eb access, video calls, fast music andvideo downloads, interactive gaming and global positioning over the Internet.

It has potential to grow at 200% a year, giving operators a new revenue source.

IVR will see large scale adoption, especially in rural areas.
