• America’s desire for land• New immigrants• Birth rate rising• Economy – based on Agriculture• Fear of European Countries invading (Barrier)
What did Native Americans do?
• Trail of Tears
-Protect what was left of their land -assimilate
-Sold parts of their land to the United States Government -control over what land was left
-Refused to move, even if it meant going to war
Eventually sent to reservations in Kansas

• Potawatomi had lived on a diet of mainly fish in their native lands
