There was no backlog ofprevious yearexploration programme.Previously, 21 nos. ofboreholes were given inthe entire lease area of38.45 Ha out of which 09boreholes were under thearea applied for renewal(12.14 Ha) at a gridinterval of 50m. Mx.depth of hole was 20m.During 2016-17, one (01)no. of BH was given uptothe depth of 18m andduring 2017-18, nine(09) nos. of BHs havebeen given with totalmetrage of 149m havingMin. depth of 15m, Max.depth of 18m and av.depth of 16.7m.

The area covered underProved (G1 level) is10.5 Hc and the areacovered under Probable(G2 level) is 0.875 Hc.Altogether previously,21 nos. of boreholeswere given in the entirelease area of 38.45 Haout of which 09boreholes were under thearea applied for renewal(12.14 Ha) at a gridinterval of 50m. Mx.depth of hole was 20m.

The exploration wascarried out through coredrilling and it was donepreviously by MECL (21BHs) and later by GEOCONand HINDALCO (10 BHS).Total expenditureincurred for drilling of10 nos. of BHs were Rs.263025/- @ Rs. 1575/-per meter of drilling.

In quarry no. 3A, fourbenches were found to bedeveloped, one in Topsoil(1.5-2m), two inMorrum(1-1.5m) and onein Bauxite(1.5m). Inquarry no. 2 also fourbenches were found to bedeveloped, one in Topsoil(1.0m), two inMorrum(1.5-2.0m) and onein Bauxite(2-2.5m).

During the year 2016-17the stripping ratio was1:0.82. The productionduring 2016-17 was 44624MT and simultaneousquantity of OB/Wastegeneration for the sameperiod was 58400 MT(~36500 cu.m).

Presently two (02)quarraries within thelease area were inoperation viz. viz.Quarry no. 2 & 3. Theproduction during 2016-17 was achieved fromquarry no. 2 & partlyfrom quarry no. 3 ofJalim-Sanai BauxiteMine. The Quarry no. 2has been divided in twoparts. The dimension ofquarries are as givenbelow:-i. Q2 (Eastern Part):100m X 70m X 6m;ii. Q2 (Western Part):120m X 80-85m X 5-5.5m; iii. Q3: 180m X 25m X3.5m.

No sub-grade Bauxiteproduction was reportedfrom the mine, however,whatever sub-gradematerials are generatedfrom the mine wereblended with high gradematerial before despatchto the plant maitainingthe required grade thusavoiding wastage ofmineral and ascertainingmineral conservationaspect.

Not applicable as nosub-grade materialgeneration was reportedfrom the mine during2014-15 to 2016-17.

The Bauxite ore, afterblasting, is segregatedmanually from ROM.

As perapprovedScheme ofmining dated19.12.2014,the machinerywas proposedto be providedfrom ShrengdagBauxite mineof the lesseefor removal ofOB and Ore, asand when basedonrequirement,.

As no sub-grade andmineral rejectgeneration has beenreported from the minehence no such analysisor beneficiation studyof sub-grade mineral andreject has been carriedout in the mine.

As per proposal, holesare done in hardformation by JH drillhaving diameter of 34-38mm. The holes aregenerally made upto 1.2mdepth. Burden andspacing are maitained at1m each. Each hole ischarged with 500 gms ofAmmonium Nitrate. Shotfiring is done withSafety Fuse and OD. Ingeneral the blastingpattern is adopted withsingle row of 10 holesin one round. During2016-17, 848 kgs ofloose Ammonium Nitrate,575 nos. of OD, 1230 mtsof Safety Fuse & 4081mts of Detonating Fusewere used.

During the year 2016-17,one JCB excavator with0.3 cu.m of bucketcapacity was deployed inthe mine. Since the mineis located in a veryremote area, light heavyto heavy earth movingmachinery can not reachthe location. In thismine, the "Shabbal" isused for drilling holesfor blasting in place ofJH drill as becauseexplosives is avulnerable item due toheavy insurgent activityin the area.

In quarry no. 3,there were 2 nos. of OBbenches, 1 no. of Topsoil bench having 1mheight followed downwardby 1m of hard Morrum and1.5m of Bauxite bench.In quarry no. 2(Easternpart), there were 3 nos.of OB benches, 1 of Topsoil having 1m heightfollowed by 2 nos. ofMorrum bench of 1.5m &1m respectively followedfurther downward by 1Bauxite bench of 1.5mheight.

As on date of inspectionabout 19.32 Hect areahas been covered underexcavation out of 38.44Hect of original leasearea including 8.43 Hectcovered under excavationout of retained area of12.14 Hect. During 2016-17, about 1.04 Ha areawas covered underexcavation.

During the year 2016-17the Ore to OB/Wasteratio was 1:0.82. Theproduction during 2016-17 was 44624 MT andsimultaneous quantity ofOB/Waste generation forthe same period was58400 MT (~36500 cu.m).

In quarry no.2(Western part),there were 2 nos.of OB benches, 1no. of Top soilbench having 1.25mheight followed by1 no. of Morrumbench of 1.25mheight, followedfurther downwardby 1 Bauxite benchof 2.5m height. Inall the benchesthe width wasmaitained at 3m.So the height andwidth of benchesformed were at parwith that proposedin approved Schemeof Mining dated198.12.2014.

Upto 2016-17, thetotal area put touse out of totallease area of38.44 Ha was asgiven below:-i. Quarry- 19.32Hect (includingBackfilled area-5.95 Hect &Plantation overreclaimed area-0.12 Hect);ii. Manual grade wisesorting , manualscreening (for fractionabove 1" size) followedby blending withsuitable grdae is beingpracticed at the minesite. Thus all possibleefforts like handsorting, hand screening,bulk sampling followedby time to time chemicalanalysis aresystematically followedto ensure that ore isnot being mixed with thewaste material.

Generally two types ofstacks are made withinthe mine site. One is of40-42% Al2O3 and abovegrade material and theother of below 40% Al2O3grade material. The lowgrade ore is blendedwith high grade materialin appropriatecaliberated proportionbefore dispatch to itscaptive plant.

No mineral beneficiationis done, only manualsorting, screening andsizing is done at minesite. ROM produced issupplied to its captiveplant at Renukoot andMuri having sizefraction of (+) 10 mm to(-) 200mm.
