Thank you for feasting with us today!
Welcome to Valley Brook
Thank you for worshiping with us today. We are very glad you chose
to spend your Sunday morning with our Valley Brook family. For
your convenience, our ushers are standing by to meet any needs you
may have during the worship service.
Welcome Home!
Today’s Scripture:
Psalm 100
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. 2Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful
songs.3 Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his we are his people, the sheep of
his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise
his name.5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all gen-
erations.

Outreach Missionary Efforts
As the Covid-19 carries on, our committee is more determined than ever to make sure VBCC keeps up our bi-monthly distribution of supplies -- 100 blessing bags, water, face masks -- to Our Daily Bread in Baltimore. Our next distribution is Saturday, August 8. Although personal distribution of the blessing bags is still not possible, there are opportunities to contribute to the needs of folks that are really hurting! Here's how you can support our second summer outreach:
1. Pray for the success of our mission and for the growing disadvantaged population in Baltimore. 2. Financial -- any amount will help to supply the needs of these folks! Remember that the giving section of the VBCC website includes an option for contributing directly to the church's Community Outreach. 3. Notes -- Write a simple, short, encouraging note or prayer on a 3x5 or 4x6 index card (or note paper) that we can include in a blessing bag (see samples at the end of this message). If you are willing to write 2 or 3, we'd soon have enough to put one in every bag. Please mail by Tuesday, August 4 to Jeanne Perin, 8845 Warm Granite Drive, Columbia MD, 21045-5946.

View from My Place
The name of Jesus represents many things to people. In my youth,
"Jesus" and going to church were synonymous. People called it the
house of the Lord, so I thought that’s where He lived. To others He is
associated with words like, morality, spirituality, religion, and social
welfare, but not usually with words like vibrancy, vitality and vivacity.
Jesus is used to that. He arrived as a baby with no fanfare. He grew up in a place that was both obscure and
scoffed at. He was rejected by the religious establishment and ultimately died an ignominious death. Yes, in
between He performed astonishing miracles, but miracles have a very brief shelf life. Nothing external can
sustain a hungry soul. The purpose of Jesus’ miracles was to persuade people that He was the One who could
give them what they were truly thirsty for – the fullness of His life within them. That is why Jesus
said, “Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within
him” (John 7:38).
To the natural eye, Jesus has always been a rather ordinary looking door. But whenever someone dares to
open that door by faith, they discover He is the entranceway of a life and a world of wonder. No one can ade-
quately explain or describe that world to anyone else. No one can take pictures of it and post them online or
put them in a travel magazine. Nor can anyone open the door for someone else. No, to experience the hidden
treasure of the life Jesus offers, every person must personally reach out by faith to Him. When I did so, I dis-
covered He was and continues to be unfathomably more I could have ever imagined.

We, the members of
Valley Brook Community Church,
purpose to:
Know Jesus Christ better
Understand and experience the grace of God,
and as a result, grow in Christ-like love for others;
Authentically share our lives with one another;
Serve one another, each in our own unique,
God-given way;
Be a diverse congregation;
Make our music diverse and our
worship whole-hearted;
And
Reach out to others with the attitude that we
are as needy of Christ and undeserving
of Him as anyone else.

“Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
Psalm 103:1-2 (NIV)
As a church family, we are committed to pray and trust the Lord for three specific areas in our ministry.
That God would use our challenges to draw each of us closer to Him.
That God would use our challenges to deepen our love for each other and unity with each other.
That God would use our challenges to release the gifts and resources of our church community to
the extent necessary to meet our needs.
