    FULL TIME FOUNDATION LEVEL IN GENERAL DESIGN IN-DEPTH

    COURSE CONTENT

    Students are encouraged to develop problem solving abilities within a structured learning environment and

    the ability to appraise personal performance through review sessions.

    Analytical Drawing:

    Analyse a subject and render it in a variety of media styles.

    Demonstrate a sympathetic use of media and style in representing the subject.

    Use sound constructive drawing techniques.

    2D Design: Basic Skills:

    Produce roughs from finished artwork.

    Computer Aided Design

    Understand the principles of CAD. Identify the hardware/software associated with CAD.

    Demonstrate correct setting up procedures.

    Produce computer aided design in hard copy.

    Save design on disc.

    Expressive Activity

    Produce 5 A2 signed sheets of practical work Based on a selected theme showing investigation and

    development of ideas through to finished studies.

    Basic Typography

    Know the main categories of typeface. Know and use the point systems of measurement.

    Use typeface appropriate to specific work.

    Know and use the IS0 paper size systems.

    Apply visual spacing.

    Relate type written copy to printed copy.

    Trace display letterings and leadings.
