Many animals died because of the cold. The porcupines, realizing the situation, decided to group together to keep warm. This way they covered and protected themselves; but the quills of each one wounded their closest companions. After awhile, they decided to distance themselves one from the other and they began to die, alone and frozen. So they had to make a choice: either accept the quills of their companions or disappear from the Earth. Wisely, they decided to go back to being together. They learned to live with the little wounds caused by the close relationship with their companions in order to receive the heat that came from the others. This way they were able to survive. The best relationship is not the one that brings together perfect people, but when each individual learns to live with the imperfections of others and can admire the other person's good qualities. An Odd Fellow value. Please consult with Br. Jasper Mangiore, the source of this article for the Flash if you would like to learn the al- ternative moral of the story. THE VALUE OF

Ten Odd Fellows standing in a line. One disliked The Noble Grand, And then there were nine. Nine ambitious members offered to work late. One forgot the promise, And then there were eight. Eight creative members had ideas good as heaven. One lost enthusiasm, Then there were seven. Seven loyal members got into a fix. They quarreled over programs And then there were six. Six members remained with spirt and drive. One moved away And then there were five. Five steadfast members wished there were more. One became indifferent; Then there were four. Four cheerful members never disagreed Until one complained of meetings; Then there three.

ONE ODD FELLOW Three eager members! What do they do? One got discouraged Then there were two. Two lonely members, our rhyme is nearly done. One joined a bowling league And then there was one. One faithful member was feeling rather blue… Met with a schoolmate, And then there were two. Two earnest members each enrolled one more. Doubling their number, Then there were four. . Four determined members just couldn’t wait Each signed up another And then there were eight. Eight excited members signed up 16 more. In another six verses, There’ll be a thousand twenty four!!! Have A Wonderful Day

On July 14th. Wildey Lodge #2 hosted a River Boat Dining Cruise on the River-boat Tom Sawyer, leaving from the Arch area. The Cruise boarded at 6:45PM and returned at 9:30 PM. It included a buffet dinner with carved beef rib roast, pork tenderloin, and baked cod fish. Salads and sides accompanied the dinner. The cruisers had many choices of pies and cakes for dessert. We had a wonder-ful social event with thanks to everyone who helped bring about the outstanding results. Thank you also to all who took pictures and shared them with the Lodge. If you have some please send to Ken White for inclusion on the web site. The pictures show the fun and enjoyment that all were having that night. If you would like a copy of a picture from the River Cruise from the web put your

mouse on the picture and right click on the mouse. On the drop down menu left click mouse on “save image as….” The Save As Box will appear asking where to save and what to name the image. You can change the name of the picture, se-lect where you wish the image to be saved (such as Desktop, a particular Drive or folder). When you later return to the new placement, you can copy the image into a program you choose and print.

Continued from Page 1 community work we do. We should invite potential members with the offer of the oppor-tunity of personal satisfaction to help children, seniors, veterans, poor and hungry, environ-mental work, etc. This is our new and essential focus for the future. What is your opinion? Br. Ken White, Web Master

Special WILDEY LODGE 2

Br. Jasper Mangiore

Watchdog Odd Fellows Lodge No.1’s first conferral of the Degree of Love and the Degree of Truth inside the newly constructed "Odd Fellows Hall" in Dumaguete City, Philippines. The fund-raising for the Odd Fellows Hall project was launched in 2012 as one of the expansion and development strategies for

preserving and spreading Odd Fellowship in the Philippines and, hope-fully, throughout Asia. — Feeling accomplished at Dumaguete City.

In a village, the barber shaves everyone who does not shave himself/herself, but no one else. Who shaves the barber? (Barber’s Paradox) Easy answer! All I want is a warm bed, a kind word and unlimited power. (Ashleigh Brilliant) Is it just a coincidence that you and I are both alive at the same time?

Despite the cost of living, have you noticed how it

remains so popular?

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.

Those who live by the sword get shot by those who don’t.

I feel like I’m diagonally parked in a parallel universe.

Odd Fellow’s Musings

A note of wisdom: Go ahead, be yourself

And say what you think Because those who mind

Don’t matter and Those who matter don’t

mind
