Still shivering in shock, the eye witness saidthe attackers first shot at Jacobs three times, andthen fired at the other two men.

“I was stunned at how it happened. The menwere enjoying their drinks and suddenly I sawtwo guys come in. We thought they were custom-ers,” said the witness.

After the shooting the unknown assailants ranto a getaway car. A neighbour who also spoke oncondition of anonymity saw the two men fleeingand getting into a red Polo after the shooting.

Police said the motive for the murders was notknown.Nothingwastakenintheattack.“Wearefollowing up on all leads and will leave no stoneunturned in our investigations,” said Gwe.

This is the second time that the tavern hasbeen the scene of a fatal shooting. Taxi operatorand municipal official Melekile Hani wasgunned down in the tavern in 2010.

“Wehaveinvitedall tavernownersaroundthearea to a meeting at Nangoza Jebe Hall today(Wednesday) at 10am to talk about the rise incrime in the area and to find out if there is a linkbetween these attacks,” said W/O Gwe.

Many young school leavers face the unfor-tunate situation of being turned away bytertiary institutions. Although entry crite-ria may play a role, the main contributingfactor is the limited number of spacesavailable for new students each year.

According to Natalie Rabson of BostonCity Campus and Business College, it is im-perative that these students do not wastethe year and become an unemployment sta-tistic. THENMMU Soccer Charity Cup tournamentkicked off on Friday, 23 May 2014 organisedby the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Univer-sity’s third year Sport Management studentswith games played over 2 days.

Exciting football was played with Strelitziain their debut tournament emerging victori-ous over Linkside in the U19 boys division.The result had to be decided through a penal-ty shootout.Bethelsdorp High School had a double win

and clinched the girls u19 as well as the boysU16 titles. Congratulations to all these teams.Victoria Park U/16 girls coach and losing

finalist, ThobelaThoba, spokeverypositivelyof the tournament and after spearheading itsestablishment in 2002 was very happy withthe integration of a girls division into theNMMU Soccer Charity cup.“I’m very happy with how smoothly the

tournament went and I also feel it is impor-

tant for girls also to be given the platformto achieve,” Thoba said.Sport Management third year students

charity of choice was Operation SmileMadibaBay inMountCroixwithall proceedsfrom the tournament given to the charity.Operation Smile Madiba Bay was founded

in 1997 byMaureen Lambwho, after seekingpermission from the Hospital Administra-tion, started serving out-patients. OperationSmileMadiba Bay has grown into a home forchildren and elderly patients who are caredfor and looked after through their illnesses.This event was made possible by ADT Se-

curity, Draping Creations, GC Diesel, Foot-baller, Sports World and Brian Bands whohelped provide the resources needed for the3rd year Sport Management students to hostthis event.The department of Human Movement Sci-

ence at NMMU said they would like to thankall the schools for their support and look for-ward to another successful tournament nextyear.

HUNDREDS of parents and learners gracedCoselelani Senior Secondary School Alum-ni 2014 MSC Business College Tournamentat Coselelani SSS Grounds in Motherwellon May 24, 2014.

Apparently, MSC Business College werethe main sponsors of the event where fourhigh schools took on each other in football,rugby and netball.

The schools which participated in thetournament were Coselelani, Cingani, Mfe-sane and Mzontsundu. The tournamentstarted off with a round robin, with the twoschools having more points play in the fi-nals.

However, the tournament was not com-

pleted, but according to Coselelani educatorMthuthuzeli Yoyo, the tournament’s finalswouldbeplayedatCoselelaniGrounds earlyin August. Coselelani Sports Manager Lan-ga Tshangana thanked MSC Business Col-lege for their support.

The tournament started offwith a knockoutformat. The winners will receive the full setof kit and 25 goldmedalswhile the runners-upwill settle for R1500 plus 25 silver medals.

Young Cosmos defeated Young Callies 2-1while Young Brothers beat Imbabala YoungStars 2-1.
