In the same village there lived a woman

One day they met...Jack was immediately impressed that such a wonderful person had a chance to meet him. He knew it was important to tell

her all about himself.

She listened

and listened

and listened...

Until One Day...

• Jill found someone who would listen to her

This person alsoadded value to the

relationship

Soon Jill finds Jack a little less interesting (she even hides jack from her Facebook newsfeed)...

An Amazing Thing Happened

• Jill began to spend more time with this new friend who listened to her stories and concerns.

• Jill began to trust this new friend.

• Jill invited her new friend to meet her existing friends.

Soon all of Jill’s friends knew and were beginning to trust the new friend.

Jack was suddenly alone in all his greatness.

It wasn’t because he lacked any of the features he tried to tell jill about. It wasn’t because he lacked any of the features he tried to tell jill about.

It was because Jill found a different friend, who cared about her and made her feel special.

What Went Wrong?

• Jack did not want to take time to listen to Jill.

• Jill felt no connection to Jack.

• Jack was only interested in boasting about his features and benefits.

• Jill did not trust Jack.

• Jack, did not make Jill feel special.

Are you Jack?

“If a measurement matters at all, it is because it must have some conceivable effect on decisions and behavior. If we can't identify a decision that could be affected by a proposed measurement and how it could change those decisions, then the measurement simply has no value” ― Douglas W. Hubbard, How to Measure Anything: Finding the Value of "Intangibles" in Business
