SENIOR RESOURCES ARE ONLY A PHONE CALL OR MOUSE CLICK AWAY!As people age, it can be tricky to navigate the wide variety of questions and concerns that go hand-in-hand with the aging process. Senior citizens and their loved ones have many resources available to assist them with day-to-day life all the way from the national level to right here at home. Naperville is a community that warmly embraces seniors and “baby boomers” and wants to help con-nect them to information about these available services.

The City of Naperville and Naperville Park District have joined together to provide seniors with a convenient way to access this information. The City of Naperville recently launched a comprehensive webpage at www.naperville.il.us/seniorservices.aspx that provides relevant phone numbers, webpages and descriptions of services offered to seniors by category. Where appropriate, the pages guide a visitor to the appropriate provider of the service, be it the City, township, county or state. Categories include:

• care options• education• elder rights• emergency preparedness• employment

• financial assistance and taxes

• food assistance• general information• health benefits

• household maintenance assistance

• housing• legal assistance• life safety

• recreation• transportation• utility assistance• veterans assistance• volunteerism

Along with the webpage, the Naperville Park District will have volunteers and staff available to help seniors navigate the website or provide resource contact information. For assistance, or if you have any suggestions or feedback regarding additional services to be listed on the webpage, please call (630) 848-3613 or stop by the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center at 305 W. Jackson Ave.

Tai Chi for Health: Senior Level 1 • Ages: 50+Tai Chi is a traditional Chinese health art. The focus of all Senior level classes is on improving balance and maintaining mobility and agility. This is done through mind-body awareness exercises of the Neigongs and Chi Gongs, the balance building footwork drills and the graceful, slow and round movements of the Circles and the Form. The gentle movements of Tai Chi make it a perfect exercise for those recovering from or working with a physical issue and offers lifelong enjoyment. The benefits of Tai Chi are found at all levels; students may remain at Level 1 indefinitely. Level 1 concentration is on foundation breath/ener-gy exercises such as Neigongs and Chi Gongs that work on achieving balance and stress reduction. All new students begin with Level 1.
