The festival will be held at the Barn, Charters Towers Showgrounds, will be fully catered, and have a licenced bar (from 10am). Camping is also available. Conditions of Entry

1. Amateurs Only: Definition of an amateur performer for this purpose, is one who does not make a paid career

of performing, i.e. more than 51% of your income is not earned from music.

2. Judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

3. Sound and stage equipment will be provided by the Dalrymple Country Music Club and will be the only equipment used on stage, with the exception of anyone requiring a keyboard (must supply their own).

4. Backing Band: If the backing band is required, please supply four (4) clearly written copies of chord or number charts. The backing band has the right to refuse backing to any contestant who does not meet the standards of chord chart requirements.

5. All backing must be live, with the exception of Anything but Country.

6. All competitors must report to registration at least 30 minutes prior to commencement of the section. Competitors are solely responsible for being ready for their sections.

7. Whilst the Committee endeavours to remain within scheduled time frames, sections may commence early or be delayed. Performers are responsible for being ready for their appropriate section.

8. The committee reserves the right to separate, join sections together, cancel sections, or alter the program in any way.

9. Under no circumstances may anyone except Judges, Executive Committee members and scrutinizers enter the counting area during the Festival. All enquiries are to be directed to the registration desk.

10. Late nominations may be taken on the weekend but will perform first in the section, and must have nominated and paid nomination fees BEFORE the commencement of the section. This rule is not negotiable. Competitors entering late are not eligible for consideration of a Bursary (if offered).

11. ALL material must be Country, with the exception of the “Anything but Country” sections.

12. DRESS CODE: All competitors and backing band are to be suitably dressed. Under no circumstances will thongs or singlets be permitted on stage. Contestants are reminded that country style dress forms part of their performance, and will be judged accordingly.

13. Competitors can appear only once in each section, with the exception of Open Duo/Group. (See Open Duo/Group rules on next page).

14. FINALS – First place getters in each finals’ eligible section will perform once only in the Finals. Finalists may perform any song not performed by the competitor throughout the Festival. The only exception to this rule is for Pee Wee finalists who may perform a song they have already performed at the Festival.

15. JUDGING – Competitors will be judged on many areas including; Country content, use of stage, expressions, timing, pitch, suitability of material, microphone technique, appropriate dress, diction and entertainment value. Judging commences from when the compere introduces the contestant to the end of their performance.

16. Adjudication Sheets – will be available at the conclusion of the Festival, after the presentations.

17. Band requirement nomination – Although we ask that you nominate whether the band is required on the Entry Form, we understand that this choice may change. The allocation in advance will help us with planning. If you decide to change your preference, please advise when you register for your section on the day of the performance.

18. Whilst the Dalrymple Country Music Club will endeavour to keep to the set program, some changes may occur throughout the weekend.

19. Funds will only be refunded if the event is cancelled for any reason beyond the Dalrymple Country Music Clubs control. Refunds will not be issued for any other reason.

Section Definitions

Age definitions: (as at the 1st day of the festival) o Pee Wee: Under 9 years old

o Juvenile: 9 years old, and up to and including 12 years old

o Junior: 13 years old, and up to and including 17 years old

o Adult: 18 years old and over

o Open: Open to all ages

v OPEN DUO / GROUP: Band allowed. Performances of two (2) or more contestants of any age. Performers will be judged on their contribution to the group. i.e. Equal participation in the song. Individual competitors can compete in both Duo and Group Sections more than once. Harmonies will be judged favourably. Eligible for the finals.

v COUNTRY ROCK: Band allowed. Country Rock is a country song by nature which encompasses a 4/4 beat. Eligible for the finals.

v AUSTRALIAN BUSH BALLAD: Band allowed. Must be clearly recognised in the lyrics, not the way it is performed. Eligible for the finals.

v COUNTRY GOSPEL: Band allowed. Songs in this section have a definite religious or Godly significance, or have a Christian Moral ethic, all which are to be performed in a country style. Eligible for the finals.

v COUNTRY VOCAL: Band allowed. Must be country. Eligible for the finals. Ø The Pee Wee and Juvenile Vocal Section Placegetters are eligible for the PW/Juvenile Combined

Finals. v ANYTHING BUT COUNTRY: Band or backing track allowed. Must be a solo performance. Songs

in the Anything but Country section are open to all genres of music, except Country. Not eligible for the finals. Phone or Tablets are the acceptable formats for backing tracks. Please contact us if you are unsure.

v NEVER WON ONE – Juvenile/Junior Pam List Memorial Never Won One: Open to Juvenile and Junior Competitors who have never won a first place in a Juvenile or Junior Section at any Country Music Festival. Not eligible for the finals.

v SONG WRITERS – Brian Uren Tribute Open Song writers’ section: Original written song, must be Country. Conditions as per song writing entry form. Not eligible for the finals.

v OPEN MIC: Friday Night Only. Open to all ages. Anything goes – can be any genre of music, a poem or any act. Not eligible for the finals.

Venue Rules

• The organisers reserve the right to refuse admission to, or request the departure of, people behaving in an undesirable manner.

• Licencing Commission Laws apply at this Festival. • NO BYO Alcohol will be permitted into the venue. • ALCOHOL must not be consumed on stage. • Please practice safe distancing where able, throughout the duration of this event.

Please bring these with you on the day of your performance and ensure it is in your key. CAMPING FORM

Powered sites are available at the Charters Towers Show Grounds from Friday the 3rd September, through to, and including Sunday the 5th September 2021. (to be vacated by 8.30am Monday 6th September to allow for handover of facilities). Entry via the H Mills Gate on Mary Street. Armbands will be issued to campers on payment of site, and arrival at venue. Note: Camping site fees exclude Festival entry fees, and are either available at the gate, or as a Campers Special Weekend Pass below. Pets: Are permitted on camp sites, although are your responsibility and must be on leash at all times. Conditions of Entry:

Entrant. One for each song submitted. o Entrants are required to send an acoustic version of the

song, and three (3) copies of the lyrics to the Committee by the due date.

o Songs can be digitally recorded in mp3 or .wav formats, or recorded onto CD.

Entries will be judged before the Festival. Placegetters will be given the opportunity to perform their winning song before the Finals. Places will be announced at the Presentation Ceremony on Sunday. Entries in the Song Writing section will not be eligible for the Finals.

Regular Club Nights Keeping the music alive, our members meet regularly to sing along to their favourite tunes. This is where our members can truly keep country music alive, and appreciate the abundance of talent our community is blessed to have in their midst. Interested in becoming a member? Yearly Festivals Showcasing talent of all ages, our festival

runs over 3 days, giving all the opportunity to boost their confidence, and perform their

favourite country music songs to an audience. The Festival is celebrated by a community who considers itself family and are always

delighted to welcome new folks! Come along for some fantastic entertainment, or join in for

the chance to win some terrific prizes! The festival offers 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters

prize money, for each of the four competitive sections (per age group), as well as three open

sections and one PeeWee/Juvenile, Junior/Open section. At the conclusion of the

weekends competition, overall prizes are awarded to each age group winner,

determined by a finals sing off. The festival attracts participants from as young at 4 years of age, to any age, from all over Queensland

and beyond, with total entries in previous years around 100 – 120.
