Vision Statement

Incarnation Parish is a Roman Catholic community centered around the Lord Jesus, a living sign of hope to all that the Word made flesh dwells among us. His presence and love is encountered in all areas of our life together, especially in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in Sacred Scripture and in the Sacraments. We seek to make the Lord's presence and love known through service and edu-cation, through evangelization and through con-tinual conversion and renewal in Him. We entrust our life together and our sharing in the mission of Christ to the protection and intercession of Mary, Mother of the Lord and our Mother.

Bring a Friend to Church!

From the Pastor’s Pen-Pal

“The abhorrent acts of hatred on display in Charlottesville are an attack on the unity of our nation and therefore summon us all to fervent prayer and peaceful action. The bishops stand with all who are oppressed by evil ideology and entrust all who suffer to the prayers of St. Peter Claver as we approach his feast day. We also stand ready to work with all people of goodwill for an end to racial violence and for the building of peace in our communities.” This excerpt from the United States Bishops on the violence last weekend in Charlottesville is a reminder to all of us that we must pray for peace but we must work for it as well. Simply put there is no place in Christianity for any kind of hatred, racism, or bigotry. We as followers of Jesus Christ are meant and called to love one another. My brothers and sisters this love must begin here – how do we treat one another? How do we welcome one another? How do we love one another? It seems that all around us there is hatred - in the news, hatred in our country, and hatred around the world! Let there never be hatred in our Church – never in our Parish. Let us live what we so often sing – “Let there be peace on earth; and let it begin with me!.”

LIVING LIGHTS. Securing an Annual Living Light Votive Candle to Honor a Loved One, Remember a Special Intention, or Mark a Milestone is a con-tinual and wonderful way to celebrate sentiments and offer intercessions of remembrance, hope and gratitude. Two wall mounted electric candle stands now hang in our church on either side of

the newly restored and expanded Saints’ Shrine. These unique and inviting candles are made of real wax with electrified illumination to insure your Living Light burns brightly throughout the year. A plaque displaying the name of your loved one, your intention, or your milestone will be mounted before your Living Light Votive Candle. Plaques will remain for the year you have secured your Living Light and may be renewed or rededicated for addi-tional 12 month periods. In addition to its rightful place before your Living Light in the Saints’ Shrine, your Loved One, Special Intention, or Milestone will also be included in the Living Light Section of the Parish Website. See the blue brochure by the church doors or contact the rectory for more info: 718-465-8534.

The Shepherd Speaks

Vatican II left us a very beautiful meditation on Mary Most Holy. Let me just recall the words referring to the mystery we celebrate today: “the immaculate Virgin preserved free from all stain of original sin, was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, when her earthly life was over, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things” (no. 59).

Then towards the end, there is: “the Mother of Jesus in the glory which she possesses in body and soul in heaven is the image and the begin-ning of the church as it is to be perfected in the world to come. -Homily—15VIII13—Castel Gandolfo

CHRISTIAN INITIATION. Do you know a family member or friend who is interested in becoming a Catholic? The RCIA is also available for those Catholics who have not yet received First Eucharist or Confirmation. Call the Rel Ed Office (718-465-8534) for more info.

Parish Registration ~ We invite anyone who attends our Masses to register in our parish. This will give you the opportunity to be acquainted with the various events, min-isters and activities of our parish and enable us to serve you better with your needs.

When you get back from your summer plans, look for more details on how you can get involved in the Arise Together in Christ Experience that offers the opportunity for new friend-ships, stronger faith, and a deeper relationship with God through prayer and the Scriptures in a small group setting.
