Arts Immersion in the UK

Mater Dei High School is offering a one-of-a-kind arts immersion opportunity for students in the MDHS Theater Arts: In June 2017, Mr. Joseph Alanas and MDHS faculty lead ON STAGE, an iN-CANTATO TOURS experience to the United King-dom. London, Glasgow and Edinburgh are the three major cities on the itinerary, additional stops are likely to be in Bath, Liverpool and Stratford-upon-Avon. Once the touring ensemble is estab-lished and the on-tour performances set, the final program can be determined.

iNCANTATO is first and foremost a performance tour company. The itinerary for ON STAGE is custom designed around the performance and arts immersion opportunities, which are careful-ly selected and matched to each touring group. In addition to stage performances, the students will have the opportunity to work with local actors, participate in cultural activities including local the-ater festivals and interact with fellow students and audiences in the UK.

On the following pages of this introductory brochure, we share a first itinerary which provi-des an overview of where ON STAGE is sche-duled to be at the present stage of planning.

We also introduce you to iNSIDE EUROPE’s unique approach to international travel for affinity groups including performing ensembles, and the many aspects that set this experience apart. We handcraft each and every journey anew for the actual travelers. First Itinerary: ON STAGE

DAY 1Sunday, June 11

Overnight flightto London

Travelers choosing the Air-Land package will depart LAX with Virgin Atlantic or United to-day for nonstop/direct flights to London, Eng-land. Meals/beverages and in-flight entertain-ment are being offered, the checked bag fee for the one piece of lugga-ge is already included.

DAY 2Monday, June 12

Hello London West End Theatre Tour

The iNCANTATO team welcomes the MDHS Theatre travelers at London-Heathrow. Once in the city, the students take a tour of London‘s West End theater district with a look behind the scenes of current productions. Fish & Chips welcome dinner and overnight..

DAY 3Tuesday, June 13

London Arts Immersion, First Performance(s)

Morning sightseeing of London‘s highlights is followed by an op-tional arts school visit and exchange. There-after, MDHS Theater Arts takes the stage(s) on the second day in England‘s capital city. Evening at leisure to attend a show (ticket cost not included).

DAY 4Wednesday, June 14

Scenic route to Bath or Straford-upon-Avon

The British countryside is unlike any other and MDHS Theater will take in a smaller town and its vibrant theater/arts scene. Bath or Strat-ford-upon-Avon are two of many possibilities offering rich history, a summer events series, and unique performance opportunities..

NOT A PERFORMER, BUT YOU WANT TO SEE MDHS THEATER ON STAGE IN THE UK?iNSIDE EUROPE is offering a travel opportunity alongside the Mater Dei student tour for Family & Friends of MDHS Theatre: ENCHANTING UK.This iNSIDE EUROPE milestone experience is an enriching vacation for parents, siblings, as well as family friends to mostly the same destinations, but with upgraded, centrally located hotels, lots of free time and a dynamic itinerary offering options for the travelers‘ various interests (food + wine, faith, art, etc.). DAY 5 & 6 Thursday, June 15 Via Liverpool to Glasgow

The tour continues north: Meet students at the Liverpool Theatre School for an exchange and joint performances. Next stop is Glasgow, Scotland. The city is famed for its Victorian and art nouveau ar-chitecture, and known today as a national cultural hub: Glasgow is home to the Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet and National Theatre of Scotland. Workshop opportunities as well as the possibility to take a look begind the scenes.

DAY 7, 8 & 9June 17, 18 & 19Edinburgh in-depth Barony Castle Stay

Sommer is festival time across the UK and Scotland with a myriad of events taking place in and near Edinburgh this weekend. Leith Festival is just one opportunity to be sharing the stage with local and internati-onal guest artists.

And why not perform at Barony Castle, too? iNCANTATO is offering the possibility of sights-leeping in this unique castle hotel too. Space is limited however, and wil be assigned to the first 40 travelers.

DAY 10Tuesday, June 20Farewell near London The final curtain call is today with one more activity packed day as the group returns to England. Farewell events include a perfor-mance and pub dinner.

DAY 11Wednesday, June 21London Departure or Extension

The MDHS Theater group flights depart London today with a scheduled same day arrival in Los Angeles. Optional Extension Alternatively, there is the option to extend for students wanting more time and who have fa-mily in London on June 21 or on the parallel iNSIDE EUROPE milestone experience or parents/guardians traveling alongside. Extension options will be custom-designed based on the travelers‘ interests in partnership with the caring travel experts at NONSTOP in Torrance, CA.
