There is so much talk about “going green”…”being green”…”working green”…that it’s hard to recognize when a company is actually making a difference. Using different words might help cut through the clutter. But if you are looking for a design-build partner whose eco-friendly values mirror your own, then only an honest, non-jumping-on-the-trendy-bandwagon attitude will work. That happens to be the attitude we have toward all aspects of exhibit-crafting. It is part of our DNA to experiment with “the new.” We have a long history of being the first exhibit company to introduce revolutionary materials, innovative processes, and emerging technologies. So if there is any sustainability benchmark you want your exhibit/experiential marketing company to hit, you can rest assured that we, in all likelihood, hit it last year and have since raised the bar.

We design and build your exhibit here in northern New Jersey or with select global partners. But you do business in many locations worldwide. How do you get there from here – without your budget going south? You use our Managed Exhibit Program. It’s a simple solution. We handle international customs when needed. And we charge only a modest pre-set fee for whichever of the many logistical services you want us to take off your hands – instead of your offloading them to an overworked executive assistant who last heard of international customs in a college cultural-anthropology course. Combine this with our design/build process and storage services and what you’ve got is “life-cycle management” for your exhibit. If this sounds like your kind of management...

After a sleepless winter of hard labor, a brand new creative exhibit company, Dimensional Communications, presented its maiden production, a world’s fair pavilion for a leading dairy products company, Borden’s. The “Better Living Center” pavilion consisted of a half a dozen product displays and side shows. The main attraction, a mini-Broadway musical revue “All About Elsie” caused a real New York buzz. In front of the curious eyes of the brave new world it employed automated cartoon characters with Hi-fi audio, theatrical lighting and a live cow - Elsie Borden.
It was a fitting start for the company. Never since has Dimensional veered into mundane in its creative solutions. If there is a new material or technology, there is a chance that we have tried it already. We are looking forward to working on the next World’s Fair or your new exhibit, whichever comes first.

When it was time for Cambridge Silversmiths to revamp their tradeshow presence, they called Dimensional Communications. This leading global flatware source had a wonderful challenge after a successful half century in business: Well over 400 patterns from everyday utensils to design-museum level famous designer collections needed to be arranged to an impactful trade show presentation.
Our team took a crash course in the Cambridge-school of table-setting and organized the plethora of patterns, designs and styles into a striking Manhattan boutique-showroom exhibit booth. Innovative displays, functional traffic flow and utilitarian show maintenance features are all enveloped in a boldly branded header structure, which provides lighting, visibility and marketing message presence in the exhibit hall: The unforgettable Cambridge style is here!

The New York Yankees have a long and storied history. The brand new Yankee Stadium…not so much yet. Opening for the 2009 season, the new stadium needed a history transplant. The team brought in Monument Park, Thurman Munson’s locker, plenty of memorabilia and built an actual museum inside.
Dimensional helped bring the museum to life. Stainless steel and glass cases present each chapter of the Yankees’ past under LED lighting that will last longer than “The House That Ruth Built” did. More than 900 collector-quality autographed balls artfully depict a pitch of Don Larsen’s “perfect game.” It’s a larger-than-life experience – just like the Yankees.

Dimensional Communications was asked to team up with Lee H. Skolnick Architecture + Design Partnership and Big Show Construction Management Company as the Exhibit Builder specialist to the project. The technological wonder of a museum experience is skillfully fitted into the cavernous space above the existing museum in the Midtown Manhattan Sony Building and has become a destination for the cyber generations – parents and kids alike.
The designer’s summary says it all short of visiting the place: “The addition to the technology and entertainment museum for all ages merges education, entertainment, and technology in interactive exhibits that encourage visitors to express themselves creatively using innovative communication and digital technologies. Visitor profiles shape a personalized environment manifested in streaming information on dynamic, transparent projection surfaces and in theatrical lighting effects. The space itself represents a microcosm of the digital world.”

From Giant Orb Weaving Spiders and Hissing Cockroaches to Leaf Nosed Snakes and Red Ruffed Lemurs, the diversity of life in Madagascar is on full display in habitats designed to not only mimic the appearance, but the climate and sounds of this unique environment. Utilizing the latest advancements in green technologies Dimensional produced all exhibit elements including specialty displays, interactives, graphics, and signage as well as the entire multimedia package. The active role for Dimensional was to understand, engineer and implement the design concept with the intended viewer experience in mind. To that end, materials, finishes and construction methodologies were carefully considered and reviewed with the designers.

Like so many retailers, Ferrari has design specs for their retail dealerships. But Ferrari does not cater to an “off the rack” clientele. So, within the specifications, we looked for opportunities to customize the Coral Gables dealership so that it had a style that said Ferrari – and Coral Gables. So you’ll find leather-bound counters of distinctive shapes and styling. You’ll find lighting and mirrors and glass used to special effect – and a custom paint job that makes the entire showroom feel fast. We brought out the best in a client that expected nothing less.

Relocating its New York Headquarters to Rockefeller Plaza, Christie’s felt the time was right for an identity change. Carbone Smolan Agency created a new brand identity for the well-known auction house and approached Dimensional about carrying this new identity to the building’s exterior. We devised a simple solution with striking results. We developed and installed a low-tech banner network. Suspended on a track system and lighted from above and below, the banners dazzle visitors and passers-by as they announce the presence of the new Christie’s.

Corporate headquarters can’t get much more futuristic than this, with 13 suspended neuron-like sculptural forms snaking overhead. Dimensional worked with Lee H. Skolnick through extensive prototype development to create these forms. Side-emitting fiber optic cables were threaded through a wood and aluminum skeleton wrapped in a white net. We also fabricated the aluminum and resin-finished reception counter and semi-transparent wall structures. The result is a futuristic office interior featured on the cover of Interior Design magazine.

As the Official Patron of PGA of America, Mercedes-Benz introduced a high-tech and history-themed respite for the visitors at the 91st Championship tournament: The PGA Performance Center. Centuries of the evolution of golf and nine generations of the Mercedes E-Class were paired to make a perfect promotional drive. The message was channeled into this immersion space by a multi-faceted, masterfully produced embrace of Multimedia with actual automobiles and artifacts.
An estimated 200,000 event visitors were greeted by the latest Multimedia starting from a battery of LCD monitors. A product specialist operated a 10ft.x5ft. wall-mounted interactive multi-touch screen, familiar from current news broadcasts. For the first time, the client successfully utilized multi-touch surface computing tables. Multiple guests interacted directly with parallel programs about the PGA and Mercedes-Benz with an added feature that enabled the sending of e-mails. All this was backed by a super-wide heroic-size 60ft.x10ft. LED video wall.

The challenge was to show consistency and variety across seven floors of the PPFA’s corporate headquarters. Working with The Moderns, we designed and built an automated video display system. It distributes seven MPEG movies to 49 video screens located throughout the seven floors. Two computers with quad graphic cards and a cat5 distribution system are used for VGA transmission. The display system also includes an array of monitors at each elevator bank for pushed web content. We provided a touch screen system using a custom screen with a built-in computer.

At multiple locations throughout Monterey, Ferrari’s 60th Anniversary was celebrated with special exhibits honoring the heritage and craftsmanship of Ferrari as a leader in the auto industry. The new 612 Sessanta was unveiled at Tehama Country Club. The exhibit consisted of a “Kabuki” reveal with supplemental fabric structures and specialty lighting. Also highlighted was the “Classiche” certification program at Laguna Seca, where a garage-like atmosphere was created, working technicians performed hourly presentations, and exterior landscaping enhanced the overall appearance. Pebble Beach Golf Course – 1st tee, a series of uniquely shaped fabric structures were highlighted, emphasis being placed on Carrozzeria Scaglietti accessory program.

When the “Sex and the City” movie opened, women all over the country gathered in special viewing parties. Since its new GLK compact SUV had a striking cameo in the movie, Mercedes-Benz decided to put on a little “viewing party” of its own. In the heart of “the City” – in front of that icon of urban chic, the Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle, with the new Museum of Arts and Design nearby – the GLK took its own star turn, hand-in-handle with the film’s stars.

With a new auto show exhibit Mercedes-Benz continues to lead the way for the automotive industry. Dimensional Communications created a design with aggressive edges and diagonal sweeps conveying a dramatic and distinct appearance. The exhibit is finished with a unique palette of materials that accent the real showpieces - the cars. Multi-level platforms and elevated turntables provide visibility for the vehicles, while the abstract graphic backdrops portray speed and motion. The real show thunder across the exhibit is powered by the latest in synchronized Multimedia presentations, including a cutting edge 3D video. This is the new class of auto show exhibit for the others to follow.

Sometimes the client gives the exhibit designer/builder carte blanche. At other times, we have to work within narrow boundaries. For this exhibit, the German makers prescribed very strict parameters. With the revival of the Maybach marque, the company needed to convey the qualities of this super-luxury brand. Dimensional created an interior that duplicates exactly the prestigious Commissioning Studios where buyers select the details and finishes of their hand-crafted vehicles. The exhibit’s rich wood, elegant glass, and faux concrete combine to express the graceful beauty of this unique vehicle.
