Attention to detail has increased 10 times. I now look at every indicator possible when assessing subluxation. I now review MRI’s on a regular basis. I am more observant of other listing systems/factors when deciding how best to adjust my patients. I am communicating differently with my patients and with other health care providers. I am more confident, more certain and more knowledgeable than I have ever been.” Ian Bulow, DC, DCCJP — Pennsylvania “This class has helped me to see the many ways the elements of the upper cervical spine can move out of normal relationship, not just with x-rays, but also with palpation. I am much more thorough in studying my patients and understanding how the subluxation is being expressed in their lives. I have confidence now when I look at an MRI of the CCJ that has been called “normal” and am able to show what is abnormal about it. I also have a greater respect for the other upper cervical procedures and the data they bring to the work.” Philip Schalow, DC, DCCJP — Illinoin “Soon after starting the DCCJP classes, I began evaluating more thoroughly. Next I began using some adjustment ideas from other approaches – like orthogonal analysis for laterality, torque and knee chest approaches at C2. The combination of [those] led to my Blair adjustments being better and faster with longer lasting results. My increased understanding of the CCJ and ability to speak about it has led to more collaboration with other colleagues such as MDs, DCs, PTs, NDs. From all these changes, I am getting many more complex cases, handling them better, and having lots of fun!” Daniel Judge, DC, DCCJP — Michigan “The upper cervical diplomate program is by far the best investment I have made. As a younger doc in the field, it put my learning curve in fast forward. The comprehension of the craniocer- vical junction, advanced imaging, cerebrospinal fluid, trauma and how to assess misalignment and provide a specific correction has been invaluable to helping people get better faster and stay better longer.” Rachae Bell BA, DC, DCCJP — Washington Year 1 Starting September, 2016 Chicago website: www.icauppercervical.com Register by July 1, 2016

BOARD EXAMINATION Written and Orals

The ICA Council on Upper Cervical Care reserves the right to change modules and instructors when and if necessary.

HISTORY: The Diplomate in Chiropractic Craniocervical Junction Procedures (DCCJP) is a postgraduate program developed and administered by the International Chiropractors Association (ICA) Council on Upper Cervical Care. It is designed for doctors of chiropractic who wish to take their expertise to the next level, advance their clinical knowledge in upper cervical chiropractic and expand their diagnostic and practical skills to improve patient outcomes. The first DCCJP class kicked off in January 2013 and 18 DCs passed the first Board Certification Examination held during the summer of 2015.

COURSE OF STUDY: The program includes 23 modules of 12 hours each and takes about 2.5 years to complete. The syllabus provides intensive education in spinal biomechanics, neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, advanced imaging, collaborative learning of the major orthogonal and articular approaches to adjusting the upper cervical subluxation, outcome assessments, integrative learning as well as upper cervical research that includes writing and presentation of professional papers.

TUITION: Year 1: $3250; Year 2: $3500; Year 3: $2250.

PAYMENT OPTIONS: Annual tuition paid in one or two instalments before the class starts will receive a discount of 10%. Monthly instalments must be paid by auto debit. An initial deposit equivalent to two months instalments is due with registration and the balance charged in equal instalments via the credit card on file.

TEST: There is a test at the end of Year 1. Doctors must pass this test in order to continue to Year 2. There is no make-up test for doctors who are unable to take the test when scheduled.

BOARD CERTIFICATION EXAMINATION: The Board Exam is conducted approximately 6-8 weeks after the end of Year 3. It includes 2 written and 3 oral examinations. Candidates must pay a fee to sit for the Board Examination.

TECHNIQUE CERTIFICATION: Prior to registering for the DCCJP Board Examination, all candidates must be certified in ONE of the following upper cervical procedures: Knee Chest, Blair, NUCCA, Orthospinology, Advanced Orthogonal, Atlas Orthogonal or Grostic. Certification must be from the official technique organization, not from a DC who conducts seminars on that technique.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS: CE credits for six of the modules in Year 1 will be applied for. The Council does not guarantee that 12 hours of CE per module will be approved in all states applied to as some states approve only a limited number of hours for out of state programs. To apply to the following states the Council requires a lead time of 120 days: AL, AR, CA, FL, HI, KS, KY, LA, ME, MA, MO, NC, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OK, PA, TX, WV and British Columbia. Doctors requiring CE in the states listed must register in advance of June 1, 2016 if they want CE credits.

WHO MAY REGISTER: Doctors of chiropractic who have graduated from a CCE-accredited institution may enroll in this program.

MEMBERSHIP: All DCs enrolled in the program are required to become members of the ICA Council on Upper Cervical Care.
