The 10K run, what a fantastic way to start Scorton Feast; it was awesome and so well organised. Well done to Jess Tweddle & Andrew Campbell they make a brilliant team. Monday brings the Children’s Sports and it was great to see so many children having fun on the green, its what its all about, playing in the sunshine. Unfortunately the rain came on Tuesday but the Flower Show was supported with lots of entries and the Cycle Race was full. It was brilliant to see the children try so hard and finish the 5 miles. Sadly the rain made it unsafe to continue with anymore activities on the green on Tuesday. But Wednesday’s Pet show was so well attended, and then came the Fancy Dress which was held in the Flower Show Marquee due to more rain. A few more games were held on the green but the band was cancelled for safety reasons. All in all it was a great four days but we need help to continue and keep Scorton Feast the fantastic event it is. Anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated. Lol Campbell (Chairman)

Funding for Solar Panels to be cut in January

The Government have recently announced that they will be significantly cutting the Feed-in-Tariff in January, making solar panels a far less attractive proposition for homeowners. The tariff currently stands at 12.47p/kWh providing householders a 13% return on investment, but in the New Year this will drop to only 1.63p/kWh. The good news is, anyone who installs a system before 31st December will receive the higher rate of Feed-in-Tariff which is guaranteed for 20 years. Yorkshire Energy Partnership and Richmondshire District Council are working together to promote the uptake of solar panels in Richmondshire and would encourage anyone who has been considering solar to act quickly. Solar panels use daylight to generate electricity for your home and can reduce your electricity bills by £294* a year. Savings and Feed-in-Tariff payments combined can earn you over £800* a year for 20 years. Yorkshire Energy Partnership will be hosting a Renewable Information event on Thursday 12

th November at The Old School House, Leyburn, DL8 5DL 2-6pm to

answer any renewable technology questions. To arrange a free no obligation survey, please contact Yorkshire Energy Partnership on 01904 545020 as soon as possible. *Based on a 4kWp system. Estimate is based upon manufacturers Standard Assessment of Performance (independent software)

BOLTON-ON-SWALE DOES IT AGAIN!

Two weeks ago, our school, Bolton-on-Swale, found out they had achieved their 4th Green Flag. This involved a thorough assessment around the school grounds, inside and out. To get our 4th Green Flag we had to cover a range of seven topics including: litter, energy, biodiversity, waste, water, global citizenship and healthy living. Mrs Walton (the assessor) was particularly impressed with our plastic bottle greenhouse and our recently completed peace garden. Mrs Walton was also surprised when she heard that we had got to the vegetable box finals in the Great Yorkshire Show three years running. All the staff and the pupils are very proud to be the first school in North Yorkshire to get a 4th Green Flag. We are now planning to have a Green Day soon to celebrate. Reporters: Matthew Cole (10) and Harriet White (10)
