Purpose: Advocate for the pilot/escort vehicle industry toward improving the safety of the motoring public as it relates to oversized and overweight transportation vehicles and their Pilot Car escorts.
NAPSVA arose out of the SC&RA contract with FHWA to provide an updated Pilot Escort Vehicle Operator Best Practices and generic national training curriculum that states could use as a foundation for building internal state programs. NAPSVA was initially cited in response to a formal request from the National Transportation Safety Board as they were investigating the Skagit River Bridge incident. It will serve to become the leading advocate for issues the pilot car industry faces.
