Afternoon TeaAfternoon tea is said to have been introduced in the mid 1800s by the Duchess of Bedford, who enjoyed gather-ing friends over a cup of tea and a slice of bread and but-ter to stave off hunger between lunch and dinner. These occasions became a favorite pastime of many luminaries, including ‘The’ Mrs. Astor, who adopted the tradition at The St. Regis New York.

For her, afternoon tea was a joyful occasion and an opportunity to host gatherings with close friends as a prelude to her grand galas.

A magnificent Gothic cathedral whose sandstone walls and flying buttresses seem to rise out of the sea. Stand on the seafront and look up at its golden sandstone exterior, climbing above the old city walls. Be sure to walk around to the south front, facing the sea.

The beautiful town of Sóller is located in the northwest of the island and linked to Palma by a historic wooden train. The Ferrocarril de Sóller was built over 100 years ago for the purpose of transporting the famous Sóller oranges to the port of Palma for export to mainland Spain and other European countries. Make a day trip to this beautiful town featuring modernist buildings and quaint little shops and cafés. Continue the journey with the Sóller tram and visit Port Sóller, a small natural harbor located a few minutes away.

Palma’s local tapas night entails a walking tour around the city’s old town from tapas bar to tapas bar trying out a variety of small dishes at each location and often just standing at the bar or sitting down briefly at each place.

Cycling is extremely popular in Mallorca and renowned for its extensive labyrinth of mountain tracks, countryside roads, and winding mountain passes where cyclists test their limits and explore the island. The year round mild temperatures and roads catering to all fitness levels make it a fantastic day out experience.

Mallorca is a paradise for walkers, and there are many well -maintained and sign-posted hiking paths for all abili-ties along the Sierra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO world heritage site. The Caves of Campanet are the least known on the island but well worth a visit. They made up of various cavities with suggestive names as “romantic room” or “enchanted city”. The Drach Caves, the most famous ones are formed by water being forced through the entrance from the Me-diterranean Sea, and some researchers think the formation may date back to the Miocene era.

Discover the authentic local culture and produce by visiting one of the many markets that take place every day at different locations all over the island: Sineu, Santanyi, Arta, Sóller, etc.

Can Pedro located in Genova and Can Torrat in Calvià offer rustic Mallorquin cuisine and are set in old “Me-sones”, which are old countryside houses and specialize in local dishes. Make sure to try the “pa amb oli”, “arroz brut” and the traditional roast suckling pig.
