It proved to be a fast-moving show with lots of singing and dancing and hu- mour. Though superficially the show made fun of the Church of the Latter Day, and used confronting language and images, it also conceded that peoples’ shared beliefs can be a source of strength (for both good or evil). Thanks to David Langwor- thy for organizing the night and obtaining very good seats. A board meeting was held last Tuesday. A highlight was the board agreeing to make a donation of $1,000 to the RAWCS account set up by Rotary Clubs in the areas affected by Cy- clone Debbie. As is now the custom all board reports and minutes are availa- ble in the members’ section on the club website. Please take the time to review and raise any issues you may have with any of the board members. A reminder that on this coming Friday 21 April there will be a schools’ Anzac ceremony to be held at the Hampton RSL. Details have been published previously in In Gear and Peter Flude can provide the latest. Also see pages 2 and 4. On this Thursday 20 April, we are having the Sons and Daugh- ters night. Hopefully by now you will have arranged to bring someone along and have advised Chris D’Arcy. The night will have a slightly different format as we will be dispensing with all our usual formalities. A short video will be shown to provide some background to Rotary. We will then split up (by table) into groups to open up a discussion, using prepared questions as prompts, and capture the views of our guests. But above all let’s make sure it’s a fun night. Frozen Message Your Shot contributor Christian Aslund cap-tured this cold-inducing portrait of Renny Bijoux, a youth ambassador from the Seychelles on a Greenpeace North Pole expedition. Aslund said, "The team, most of them without any previous polar experience, skied to the North Pole and lowered a capsule 4.3km onto the sea bed, con-taining signatories to their campaign to protect the Arctic from industrial development."
