� What is PGDM: Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is initiated by AICTE to make management program more industry / sector specific than MBA & considered professionally equivalent to MBA.
� It is an autonomous program run by college and degree is issued by college as per norms and policy of AICTE.

� Construction Management is management of the development, conservation and improvement of the built environment.
� It may involve all or one of above disciplines.� It is also termed as Construction Engineering
Management or Construction Project Management
� Usually
� Built environment refers to “the human-made space in which people live, work, and recreate on a day-to-day basis”.
� Development refers to planning, design, & construction.
� Conservation refers to maintenance, adaptation & restoration.
� Improvement refers to evaluation and recycling of the built environment.

� Construction sector has three key segments:
� Buildings, falling into any of the categories: residential, commercial, institutional and industrial.
� Infrastructure such as road, rail, dams, canals, airports, power systems, telecommunication systems, urban infrastructure including water supply, sewerage, and drainage and rural infrastructure.
� Specialized activities such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work.
Construction Industry
� The construction industry in India is the second largest industry after agriculture accounting for 11 percent of India’s GDP.
� Construction accounts for nearly 65 per cent of the total investment in infrastructure.
� The industry employs 320 Lacs people and its total market size is estimated at Rs. 2,48,000 crores.

� With high stakes in the industry, it needs to be governed / managed properly.
� Usually, the mangers are technocrats having conventional working experience without much of managerial or other skills training.
� Technocrats associated with the industry need to employ innovative techniques and skilled project handling strategies to avoid inefficiencies, wastage and low value added activities.

� Quality, safety, environment and social aspects are also not addressed appropriately.

Entry Requirement
� The programme is open to both mid career professionals and fresh graduates.
� For entry applicant should have completed either:� An engineering bachelor degree or equivalent
qualification� A bachelor degree in commerce, science or other
field having experience in construction industry.� Minimum 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in above
examinations.� Passed any of entrance test i.e. MAT, ATMA etc.
How Program is offered at Ramanujan?
� The program is designed not to develop Masters in Management (theoretical subject) but managers having need based knowledge related to analyzing and improving business processes.
