Alzheimer's SocietySunderland branch

“ …..earlier diagnosis and support as well as a greater choice of services”

This would mean less stress for carers especially those from the poorest areas of Sunderland who contribute over 50 hours per week

Evaluation

• Sunderland puts a high value on care provided by friends, neighbours and above all, by family members.

• The economic value of unpaid care is estimated to be five times the council budget for Adult Services

• Including carer issues in strategic documents ensures that all agencies can tackle the challenges facing the city to bring about long term improvements and change lives for the better.

• Support for carers is vital
