eHealth & OSM - How it Started As one of the top Non-profit NGOs in Nigeria with interest at improving
access to public health, GIS and spatial data is key to our operations
We maintain a robust spatial database of Nigeria used for planning, implementing and monitoring immunization activities
At a particular time we needed more road data for routing and vaccine delivery planning
We also wanted to share some of our field collected data with the public
OSM provided the platform to easily create, share and leverage on the data and other applications in our operations

Our Achievements with OSM From the first moment that we created our first node, we have been able to
achieve much with mapping OSM in a short period. Below are the summary;
5
10 Northern States of operation
ward boundary polygon = 2788 LGA boundary polygon = 250 State boundary polygon = 10 Total = 3,048
Other 26 States & FCT;
LGA boundary polygon = 523 State boundary polygon = 27 Total = 550
8 Northern States Residential area (polygon)
Polygon = 9,430 Multi polygon = 1538 Total = 10,968
Kano State Health Facilities (nodes) = 1,087
Bauchi State Health Facilities (Nodes) = 1,096
Borno State Health Facilities (Nodes) ongoing = 1,096

Kano Vaccine Direct Delivery (KVDD) One of eHealth Africa support services to Kano State Primary Health care
Management Board to make vaccines available at all time in Health Facilities across the state for routine vaccination
Addresses inadequate logistics i.e. under or over stock of vaccines, late supply of needed vaccines and damage due to high temperature
Objective is to ensure that there is routine immunization at all point of service in each of Kano 484 wards by stabilizing supply thereby increasing confidence and building demand for routine immunization
And GIS is to calculate the routing and mapping products for the project in ensuring that eHealth Africa supplies vaccines and immunization supply to each facility in rotation biweekly

Challenges & Future Plans Getting more volunteers, mapping enthusiast and GIS Specialist on the
project of mapping Nigeria on OSM with appropriate tags and feature name
Our future plan is to continue with this as much as we can go from one state to another
Map Nigeria to building level to support the Nigeria 2016 Census
The next phase will be to collect streets, roads, and other feature of interest names and update the OSM database.
