What makes Ford & Doonan systems better?

Ford & Doonan utilises the design principles developed by the Ford & Doonan Group over 30 years in the WA market. Many of those systems installed over 20 years ago have been updated with the latest state-of-the-art technology, enabling us to enhance the designs to take into account the current focus on energy efficiency. We design and build systems which we can operate 20-30% cheaper than some of the substandard ones.

We design and build eco-friendly, whisper quiet air conditioning with high volume, low velocity, air distribution systems that lead the way in energy conservation and provide a better investment for your home. With electricity costs on the rise, and everyone’s awareness of global warming, plus the ongoing maintenance expenses, all these considerations need to be factored into your buying decision. We call this the “Total Cost” of air conditioning.

Why choose Ford & Doonan air conditioning?

Peace of Mind Ford & Doonan have been Western Australia’s largest and most awarded air conditioning company since 1985. We’ve quickly become WA’s premier ducted air conditioning design specialists with thousands of high quality ducted systems already installed throughout WA.

After Sales Support At Ford & Doonan our large after sales department provides assistance and support for your new system. You can be assured you’re investing in a quality product through a quality company.

Preserving our Planet We’re committed to managing our carbon emissions and reducing our carbon footprint. Our system designs are undertaken to reduce energy consumption and to reduce your carbon footprint and ongoing running costs. We recycle all our office paper and recycle all the cardboard from your A/C cartons.

We are very pleased with the excellent service and advice which actually saved us money! Also the politeness and efficiency of everyone we dealt with.- David, Subiaco

Duct design, sizing and installation methods

• Generous diameter for low air resistance, quiet air delivery and lower running costs.

• Duct insulation: “Polyaire Firebreak 50” with 50mm of insulation to optimise efficiency and reduce your running costs.

• Suspended ducting: Rarely seen in other systems – this will deliver better air flow and lower static pressures for better efficiency and lower running costs.

• Larger sized return air grille and ductwork to ensure low air resistance and quiet operation.

All installations completed to the Ford & Doonan specification manual

• 20mm PVC condensate drain line from indoor unit to ground level.

• Emergency overflow tray installed beneath indoor unit.

• A separate 20mm PVC condensate drain line from the overflow tray.

• Anti-vibration spring mounts beneath indoor unit.

• Indoor unit mounted in roof space with threaded rod or custom frame.

• Indoor/outdoor unit interconnecting refrigerant pipe work to outdoor unit enclosed in pipe cover.

• Outdoor unit mounted on 100mm PVC “Parbloc” mounts.

System completion• Test run on day of completion.

• Handover Technician attends post installation, and performs an installation quality check.

• Fully commissioned and air balanced system to ensure optimum performance.

• Demonstrate controls and full operational instruction with the client.

• A/C drawings scanned and saved into Ford & Doonan’s computer system.

• Installation details passed to our Service Department for after sales service.

Multi-zone flexibility• This provides greater flexibility in running only

particular areas of your home at any one time, thus minimising energy costs.

• Generally allows a maximum of 55-65% of the nominated areas to be air conditioned simultaneously. Should these limitations be unsuitable please advise us – additional or larger equipment can be offered.

• Our zoning system incorporates best quality motorised dampers - drive open - drive closed with 24 volt motors.

• Electronic wall zone control panel with LED and customised room identification.

To ensure your system delivers cool, fresh air throughout the year - and to keep your warranty valid - it’s essential you maintain a regular service. We recommend a full service every year. We also recommend a filter clean every three months (if it’s washable). If you have the Clean Air Pack, we recommend a yearly replacement.

The technical sideWarranty The Air Conditioning equipment manufacturer extends a full 5 year parts and labour warranty on their equipment, subject to their standard conditions. The duct supplier extends a 10-year parts-only warranty on all ducts and fittings extending to supply-only of any defective components. Associated labour costs are not included. Motorised dampers are covered by a 5-year parts-only warranty. Ford & Doonan warrant the installation and workmanship for 24 months from the commissioning date.

Outdoor unit noise Ford & Doonan will provide advice on the possible location for the outdoor unit to minimise any noise complaints from neighbouring properties.

We offer no guarantee, nor accept any responsibility, that the location will conform to council noise requirement guidelines. No air conditioner manufactured in the world today can meet these guidelines when located adjacent to a boundary fence.

Should a complaint be lodged, Ford & Doonan can attend and offer advice, but any costs associated with the resolution are the client’s responsibility.

General If your outdoor unit location results in an air

recirculation problem, such as a fence, then air guiders may be required. These are available as an option.

Design parameters System design and equipment are based on Perth’s standard design conditions assuming ambient dry bulb temperatures of Summer 36°C and Winter 7°C. Temperatures above or below these may have an effect on room conditions.

Standard heat load calculation assumptions Minimum of R2.5 ceiling insulation laid flat on the ceiling is essential (not just anticon beneath the roof sheets). Internal shades on all glazing can minimise entry of heat and solar radiation. North, East or West glazing should have external shading and/or tinted glass.

For the two-storey home owner – if you have rooms beneath or next to a void or stairwell, we recommend an alternative heating source be used in conjunction with the air conditioning system. As hot air rises, a low-level heating source is recommended. Please discuss this with us to ensure the system is exactly to your requirements.

Our design and installation will be undertaken to the specifications provided in this proposal, and not to another standard.

Electrical Unless stated otherwise, the electrical work is included from your meter box to the air conditioning outdoor unit. This assumes your meter box will be able to accept the additional air conditioner circuit breaker. No allowance is included to upgrade your power supply or meter box. All electrical work will be undertaken by Western Power approved licensed electrical contractors.

Your AC controls will be located on a cavity or accessible wall. Wall chasing can be carried out at an additional cost.

Air flow Some closed rooms may require some return air relief. Normally this is achieved via an open door. Options such as door grilles or transfer ducts are available but not included in this proposal.

Ongoing maintenance Like any mechanical equipment, it is recommended your air conditioner is regularly serviced. We recommend annual service inspections and this is easily arranged through our Service Department. The standard return air filters located in the return air grille will typically need washing every three months. This is normally done by the home owner.

Congratulations on service received from switchboard girls, estimators, service staff and installers. Will have no hesitation in recommending your company to anyone needing air con. 150%
