If you are interested in a club that is hands-on and full of activity, then Art Club would be for you. Throughout the year, the Art Club has a young artist night that involves teaching and assisting younger children in creating original masterpieces. The Art Club also does small fun activities such as face paintings during the Run With All Your Hart run, have an annual Chiristmas party, and a Paint Your Toms day where you can bring in your Toms or any other pair of shoes and design it on your own. Last week, the Russell County High School Art Club took their largest trip to the St. James Art Fair in Louisville, Kentucky. While there, the Art Club got to view pieces by many artists from around the country. There were multiple works featured there consisting of clay pottery to photography to paintings. Prices ranged from one dollar to thousands of dollars. I interviewed member Brittany Hale to see what she thinks of the Art Club. “The Art Club gives me a chance to express my creativity and get involved in my community.” By: Annie He

College Spotlight University Of Louisville By:Shelby Maldonado
Is a career in healthcare within your future? If you believe so, then you should definitely consider becoming a nurse practitioner (NP). NP’S are like physicians in a lot of ways. For instance, they can access, monitor, and diagnose patients, as well as perscribe medica-tion occasionally. However, their duties and responsibilities are similar to a registered nurse (RN) as well. They can perform medical procedures and insert IV’s when needed. NP’s can special-ize in adult, pediactric, or general practice and most are employed in a hospital setting but they can also work in a doctor’s office or in home health. To become an NP, you must first obtain a Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) from a college or university. Next, you would have to get a masters degree and pass an exam which would take an additional two years. The salary of an NP is between $60,449 and $104,391 a year.
