Whistable on the 16 th of April. Sitting down at the Whistable shore, armed with Korean chilli-paste and fish & chips, the taste of fresh oysters was priceless. On the way back, the group visited one of the oldest Cathedrals in England, Canterbury cathedral (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). It was a very memorable and tummy-filling trip! Badminton – 18. April (unofficial event) Health conscious PGs had yet again an exciting night of physical exercise, where Jaehwa had a chance to demonstrate his masterful badminton skills. After playing for an hour, the players ended the night with the PG’s usual method of re-hydration: downing pints of beer at Eastside. Special thanks to Yein, who booked the courts and purchased the shuttlecocks. CIONS at Cambridge – 10. April The 10 th CIONS conference took place at Cambridge University. Dr. Choi Wonjae [Mech. Eng.] and Dr. Chung Sangwon [Mat.] gave a talk on ‘Modelling for ultrasound testing in NDE’ and ‘Fibrous Scaffold Design for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine’, respectively, from Imperial College. The session was concluded with a talk by a North Korean refugee, Kim Joo-il [Correspondent, Radio Free Asia] on ‘North Korea’s plight and the truth’, which was a touching and moving insight into an inconvenient truth. After the conference, punting was next in line. With an incredibly nice weather, everyone got on a tiny wiggly boat that had to be self-punted. For most of the participants, it was their first time punting – it seemed easy at first, but was quite a challenge. (Un)fortunately, everyone managed to stay dry and the pleasant day came to an end at a bar, where members of different universities had a chance to socialise and say au revoir.
