Ephesians 2:6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places inChrist Jesus,
Ephesians 1:21-23 f ar above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every namethat is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His f eet, and gave
Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the f ullness o f Him who f ills all in all.

Members of the body of Christ (we) functionin different callings and gifts. God determinestheir purpose and function.
Because of our position (spiritually) no devilshould exercise authority over a believer.
Luke 10:19 Behold, I give you the authority to
trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy , and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

2 Timothy 1:6 T here f ore I remind you to stir upthe gi ft o f God which is in you through the layingon o f my hands.
Gift charisma a spiritual endowment. A gift of grace endowed upon believers by the operationof the Holy Spirit.
Those spiritual abilities which God equips
believers.
Nothing in the realm of the spirit is accomplishedwithout charisma.

Lifeless religion is born out of mans attempt
to serve God his own way, in his own ability.
Romans 11:29 F or the gi f ts and the calling o f God are irrevocable (cannot be revoked,
recalled, or undone; unalterable).
Functioning in these gifts should be natural
and comfortable for us.

Romans 1:11 F or I long to see you, that I may
impart to you some spiritual gi f t, so that you
may be established
The church will not be established without
these gifts.
1 Peter 4:10 As each one has received a gi f t,
minister it to one another, as good stewards o f
the mani f old grace o f God.

Three issues to discuss from this verse:
±Everyone receives a gift.
± The gift is not ours; we are merely stewards of it.
± The gift is a portion of Gods manifold grace.

Everyone receives a gift.
Peter did not say as the select few havereceived, he said As each one has received.
If you are born again and Spirit-filled, you havereceived Gods gift to function in His body.
1 Corinthians 7:7 F or I wish that all men were
even as I mysel f . But each one has his own gi f t f rom God, one in this manner and another inthat.

If we are ignorant of this we remain unable or
unfit for service. Our call goes unfulfilled.
We must develop and exercise this gifting forservice in His body.
No part of His body operates outside of this
supernatural ability.

The gift is not ours; we are merely stewards
of it.
Since we do not own it, this gift is not to beneglected or used for personal gain.
It is given that we might serve others.
The parable of the talents. Matthew 25.16-30

Another word for gift is ability: capability,
f aculty, genius or power. In other words,
talent.
From the parable of the talents, we can see
the importance of nurturing and developing
the gift, ability or talent God has trusted us
with.

A Christian will backslide when he does not function inhis gift or calling, just as a muscle atrophies with lack of use.
An idle believer isolates himself, becoming easy preyfor the enemy.
2 Samuel 11:1 It happened in the spring o f the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent
Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people o f Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem.

King David fell into sin when he should have been
at battle.
We are not here to take a vacation. Our lives are
not even our own, for even they were purchased
and given back to us for stewardship.
Dont act as if this life is your final destination!
John 4:34 Jesus said to them, My f ood is to do
the will o f Him who sent Me, and to f inish His
work.

When our focus revolves around only ourselves, webecome fat and careless.
We have a great responsibility. We should not be apeople who go to church, apply nothing to our lives
and become fat off the Word of God. Ezekiel 34:20 T here f ore thus says the Lord GOD to
them: Behold, I Mysel f will judge between the f at and the lean sheep.
The fat sheep are the ones who serve themselves tothe neglect of the things of God and others.
If the enemy can get us to focus on ourselves instead of serving others, then the entire body will suffer.

The gift is a portion of Gods manifold grace.
Manifold or many fold.
Romans 12:4-8 F or as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same f unction, so we,
being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members o f one another. Having then gi f ts di ff eringaccording to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: i f
prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our f aith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in
teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who showsmercy, with cheer f ulness.

Everyone must learn to serve. We must all have aservants heart, just as Jesus did.
No gift is more important than another.
1 Corinthians 12:14 F or in f act the body is not onemember but many.
1 Corinthians 12:17 I f the whole body were aneye, where would be the hearing? I f the whole
were hearing, where would be the smelling? Every part is important, and everyone is
important to the body of Christ.

Many people try and move in the gift they wantrather than the one they have!
Ministry is not limited to the preacher, teachers
and ministry staff. No matter the gift, you matterto the body!
1 Corinthians 12:22-23 No, much rather, thosemembers o f the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. And those members o f the body which we think to be less honorable, on these webestow greater honor; and our unpresentable
parts have greater modesty,

The unnoticed is just as important as the
noticed.
When the whole church is operating in theirgifting, the results are much greater.
When Peter preached - Acts 2:41 T hen those
who gladly received his word were baptized;
and that day about three thousand souls were
added to them.

When Peter walked the streets under a
healing anointing - Acts 5:14 And believers
were increasingly added to the Lord,
multitudes o f both men and women,
When believers began to teach every day in
every house - Acts 5:42 And daily in the
temple, and in every house, they did not cease
teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.

The enemy knows he cannot stop God from
giving these gifts, so he is after our freedom to
exercise them.
Intimidation is the primary way he hinders
this.
