Get Your Following To Talk About You
Lingo
• RT – Retweet, to forward a tweet on to one’s following
• Reblog – To forward a blog post on to one’s following
• Share – To rebroadcast a link, post, or blog from one source to another/others …or
to offer the other kid a chance with the tonka truck
SO HOW DO I GET PEOPLE TO TALK ABOUT ME ?
HERE’S A CHECKLIST
Are you offering something valuable?
• Expert/specialized information
• Special deal
• Charitable cause information
• World Record Attempts
Of course everything I post is valuable. Just look!
sometimes it looks like this…
…be sure what you say is what you want people to
repeat.
What about your NON-digital marketing?
How does your SM approach tie in?

Consider Half.com
• Placed printed screens in urinals that said:• “Don’t piss away your money. Head to Half.com”
• Yup. It’s straight forward advertising.• Yup. It gained lots of buzz through traditional
media.• Nope. Twitter didn’t exist yet.
…wait, Twitter isn’t everything!?
• Gaining meaningful, positive attention requires integrated mediums, creativity, pithiness, AND…
a receptive audience.
Recap
• Posts that link to valuable info, special deals or human interest topics
• Linking digital marketing to in person events• Refraining from offensive and lewd remarks
that may polarize your brand• Speaking to a receptive audience, aka: not
brick walls
The Cheese Stands Alone
…except on Twitter.
The rules change with the internet.
UNIQUENESS IS REWARDED WITH PRAISE, DEVOTED
FOLLOWERS AND ADMIRATION
What do you offer that is special?
Examples
• Are you funny?• Do you lead insightful seminars?• Can you use your passion to educate others
on important human issues?• Do you recycle used tires?
Your BUSINESS is important to you.
Its what makes you special and unique that is important to your
followers.

It’s Called “Social” For a Reason
Consider this:
Roaring
• Auto Tweeting everything• Sharing your new blog on every account you
have 3 times a day for 3 days just incase anyone missed it
• Sending a Private Message and including a quick sales pitch
• Excessive tagging just to make sure your information pops in others news feed.

YUP.
If its impractical in person then…
It’s probably impractical on the internet.

social media channels

of your social media strategy
