In the North-east of Scotland alone there are more
than 1500 children with complex disabilities and
life-limiting conditions. Since the charity began in
2011, we’ve been committed to supporting these
children and their families.
It’s been a busy year at Charlie House developing services and activities
for the families we support and expanding the team to provide these
extra services. The impact this has had on the families we support can
be seen in their smiling faces and the fantastic feedback we receive.
We are delighted that we have continued to progress
our strategic plan on all fronts especially in terms of
moving forward with our ultimate dream of building a
purpose-built specialist centre here in the North-east,
which will provide children’s hospice services, short
breaks and support.
Charlie House simply couldn’t continue to offer the
support we do without our incredible corporate partners,
volunteers, fundraisers and supporters. They are all
Charlie House Heroes!! But, there is still a lot of work to
do to ensure we reach more families that need support,
build our dream facility and provide more and improved
services year on year.

OVER £1.8 MILLION TOTAL HAS BEEN RAISED SO FAR FOR THE CHARLIE HOUSE BIG BUILD.
TARGET: £8m
In November 2018 we launched our public
‘Big Build Appeal’ to engage and call
on people in the North-east of Scotland
to support our three-year fundraising
campaign to raise £8millon for the Charlie
House Specialist Support Centre.
The specialist support centre, which will support babies,
children and young people with complex disabilities and
life-limiting conditions, will be built in the grounds of
Woodend Hospital in Aberdeen.
It will be an 8-bedroom centre, with additional family
accommodation, set in 4 acres of ground. The state-of-
the-art building will feature a sensory room, library, spa
pool, craft room, teen den, soft play area, therapy room,
star room, for end-of-life care & bereavement, outdoor
play area and sensory gardens as well as adaptable
meeting space and office space for the Charlie House team and medical staff.
We are so passionate about bringing this centre to the
city. This project has always been about offering the
families we support choice. Choice as to where their
child is cared for and in what type of environment.
The state-of-the-art specialist support centre will be
the first of its kind in the region to offer these support services to the people of the North-east of Scotland
encompassing the Highlands, Orkney and Shetland.
