Having had good experiences with both software’s, as

editor, it was very difficult for me to decide which to use

for the editing of my horror trailer ‘Twisted’.

In order to make this decision, I had to weigh up both

the advantages and disadvantages of each.

IMOVIE Pro’s

•One of the main advantages of Imovie is that it very simple and easy to use due to the simple and straight forward tools it provides.

• The software provides ready made templates with a variety of themes to chose from e.g. horror, rom-com, adventurous documentary etc. so the work is already done for you.

•Colour correction and effects are available e.g. manipulating the contrast of footage and changing clips to black and white/sepia tone etc.

• Allows you to create movies in 1080P HD for a sharper professional look.

• Provides you with a selection of background music to chose from or you can insert your own.

•Allows you to put special effects on audio clips

From the information presented, we can see that both software’s have

similar features however Adobe premiere pro has the ability to take

amateur footage to the next level as it more precise and advanced as a

whole which is what persuaded me to use this software throughout the

editing of my horror trailer.

Even though IMovie is simpler to use, I prefer Adobe as its complexity

brings forth a challenge and because of this you are forced to experiment

and play with the different features and effects it has to offer.

Also, many major films have been edited through this software including

the award winning ‘Avatar’ which took nearly 10 years to make.Films edited on Adobe Premiere Pro[51]Captain Abu Raed[6]Dust to Glory[52]Inside Llewyn Davis[53]Monsters[7]TimeScapes[54]Superman Returns (for the video capture process)[55]The Social Network (only conforming)[5]Waiting for Lightning[56]Hugo[57]"Act of Valor”[58]Avatar (daily and basic edits in conjunction with Avid)
