SILENT PRAYER
PRELUDE
ANNOUNCEMENTS
CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS
In the name of the Father, and of the ☩ Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen. God of all mercy and consolation, come to the help of your people, turning us from our sin to live for you alone. Give us the power of your Holy Spirit that we may confess our sin, receive your forgiveness, and grow into the fullness of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
Amen.
Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another. Silence is kept for reflection.
Most merciful God,
We confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free
ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and
deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not
loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son,
Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead
us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your holy name. Amen.
In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for us, and for his sake God forgives us all our sins. As a called and ordained minister of the church of Christ, and by his authority, I therefore declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sins, in
the name of the Father, and of the ☩ Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
GREETING
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
And also with you.
KYRIE
HYMN OF PRAISE
PRAYER OF THE DAY
Lord of love, you have taught us that love is your greatest
commandment. Teach us to love as unconditionally as you
love us. Amen.
FIRST READING Mark 12:28-44 28One of the scribes came near and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, he asked him, "Which commandment is the first of all?" 29Jesus answered, "The first is, 'Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; 30you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' 31The second is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." 32Then the scribe said to him, "You are right, Teacher; you have truly said that 'he is one, and besides him there is no other'; 33and 'to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength,' and 'to love one's neighbor as oneself,' — this is much more important than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices." 34When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." After that no one dared to ask him any question. 35While Jesus was teaching in the temple, he said, "How can the scribes say that the Messiah is the son of David? 36David himself, by the Holy Spirit, declared, 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand,
until I put your enemies under your feet." ' 37David himself calls him Lord; so how can he be his son?" And the large crowd was listening to him with delight. 38As he taught, he said, "Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces, 39and to have the best seats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets! 40They devour widows' houses and for the sake of appearance say long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation." 41He sat down opposite the treasury, and watched the crowd putting money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. 42A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny. 43Then he called his disciples and said to them, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. 44For all of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on." P The word of the Lord.
C Thanks be to God.
SECOND READING Psalm 89:1-4
1I will sing of your steadfast love, O LORD, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. 2I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens. 3You said, "I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to my servant David: 4'I will establish your descendants forever, and build your throne for all generations.'" P The word of the Lord.
C Thanks be to God.

SERMON
APOSTLES CREED I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen
PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION
Turning our hearts to God who is gracious and merciful, we pray for the church, the world, and all who are in need.
After each petition:
Hear us, O God.
Your mercy is great.
The prayers conclude:
According to your steadfast love, O God, hear these and all our prayers as we commend them to you; through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
THE PEACE
The peace of the Lord be with you always.
And also with you.
THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen

Worshiping On-line
After reviewing a letter from Bishop Susan and an in depth discussion with council, we have decided to pause our “in person worship services” for the rest of March due to the uncertainty of coronavirus. However, we will still be providing worship opportunities. Pastor will be posting a video on Wednesdays as we continue our Lenten journey with Paul through the book of Philippians. On Sunday morning, Pastor will post the worship service on our public Facebook at 8:30 a.m. (This is the page that has the picture of our building.)
Hospital Visitation
Because of the coronavirus crisis, Pastor Kent is no longer allowed in the hospital now. However, he would like to have you notify him at the time of hospitalization as he will get in touch with the hospital chaplain for you. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 in our area and how it might affect our worship and ministry.
