When the congregation is asked to stand, please do so only if you are able. You may remain seated if standing is difficult.

WELCOME in the name of Jesus for whom we are ambassadors equipped with good news that leads to joy and celebration.

Invocation: Pastor: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Congregation (sings): Amen. Our Confession of Sins: Pastor: Beloved in the Lord! Let us draw near with a true heart and confess our sins unto God, our Father, beseeching Him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness. Our help is in the name of the Lord.

Congregation (sings): Who made heaven and earth. Pastor: I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord.

Congregation (sings): And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. All: O almighty God, merciful Father, I, a poor, miserable sinner, confess unto You all my sins and iniquities with which I have of-fended You. I justly deserve Your temporal and eternal punishment. But I am heartily sorry for my sins and sincerely repent of them. I pray that You would of Your boundless mercy and for the sake of the holy, innocent, bitter sufferings and death of Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, be gracious and merciful to me, a poor, sinful being. Pastor: Upon this your confession, I, by virtue of my office as a called servant of the Word, announce the grace of God unto all of you, and in the stead and by the com-mand of my Lord Jesus Christ, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Congregation (sings): Amen.

WE PRAISE OUR LORD

are upright in their hearts. C: Peace be upon Israel! P: Glory be to God!

Congregation (sings):

Gloria Patri Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, forever-more. Amen.

Kyrie Lord, have mercy upon us. Christ, have mercy upon us. Lord, have mercy upon us.

Luther's Sanctus Hymn

Isaiah, mighty seer in days of old, The Lord of all in spirit did behold High on a lofty throne, in splendor bright, With robes that filled the temple courts with light. Above the throne were flaming seraphim; Six wings had they, these messengers of Him. With two they veiled their faces as was right, With two they humbly hid their feet from sight, And with the other two aloft they soared; One to the other called and praised the Lord: “Holy is God, the Lord of heav’nly hosts! Holy is God, the Lord of heav’nly hosts! Holy is God, the Lord of heav’nly hosts! His glory fills the heavens and the earth!” The beams and lintels trembled at the cry, And clouds of smoke enwrapped the throne on high.

Pastor: The Lord be with you.

Congregation (sings): And with your spirit. Pastor: Let us pray.

Congregation (sings): Amen.

OUR LORD SPEAKS TO US Epistle Reading: 2 Corinthians 7:4-10

In his first letter to the Corinthians, the Apostle Paul sharply rebuked them for their sin and for their lack of dealing with sin in the congregation. Now, Paul writes with joy because the Corinthians had repented. Recognizing our sin is

sorrowful, but when that confession is coupled with faith in Christ, we receive the blessing of His redeeming work which brings the joy of salvation.

Congregational Praise (sung): Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Gospel Reading: John 6:1-15

Congregational Welcome (sung): Glory be to You, O Lord!

The greatest blessing from Jesus leading to our greatest joy is the forgiveness of sins and salvation. However, our Lord also blesses us with many other gifts leading to joy and happiness. One such example is when Jesus miraculously provided supper for 5,000.

Congregational Response (sung): Praise be to You, O Christ! Our Confession of Faith in the Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth

and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God,

begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by Whom all things were made; Who for us men and for our salvation

came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried. And the third day He rose again

according to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And He will come again with glory to judge

both the living and the dead, Whose kingdom will have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of life, Who proceeds from the Father and the Son, Who with the Father and the Son together

is worshiped and glorified, Who spoke by the prophets.

And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, And I look for the resurrection of the dead And the life of the world to come. Amen.

Hymn: Oh, That I Had a Thousand Voices

1. Oh, that I had a thousand voices To praise my God with thousand tongues! My heart, which in the Lord rejoices, Would then proclaim in grateful songs To all, wherever I might be, What great things God has done for me. 2. Dear Father, endless praise I render For soul and body, nobly joined; I praise You, Guardian kind and tender, For all the daily joys I find So richly spread on ev’ry side And freely for my use supplied. 3. I praise You, Savior, whose compassion Has brought You down to ransom me. Your pitying heart sought my salvation; You bore the cross triumphantly, Brought me from bondage full release, Made me Your own and gave me peace. 4. Glory and praise, still onward reaching, Be Yours, O Spirit of all grace, Whose holy pow’r and faithful teaching Give me among Your saints a place. Whatever good by me is done Is worked by grace divine alone. 5. Shall I not, then, be filled with gladness? Shall I not praise You evermore And triumph over fear and sadness, Although my cup of woe runs o'er? Though heav’n and earth shall disappear, Your endless love is ever near.

Distribution

Our practice of Close Communion

We believe that God desires unity of faith and confession among all who com-mune together. All communicant members of Immanuel and of our sister congre-gations in the CLC (Church of the Lutheran Confession) are welcome at the Lord's Table. If there are visitors present who wish to commune with us in the future, you are invited to speak with the Pastor about this at your convenience. For more in-formation pick up the tract from the narthex titled “Why Close Communion.”

Communing

Members who have difficulty at the kneeling rail may sit in the front pew on ei-ther side. The pastors will bring communion to you there. Any communicants sitting in the balcony should please come down to the narthex for direction to the table. Communicants are ushered to the communion table. If you desire the bread in your hand, simply extend your hand to the Pastor as he approaches you with the bread. Those desiring an individual cup, please take a cup when the tray is offered. The common cup will immediately follow. Please dispose of your individual cup in the bas-kets located behind each pillar or in the center aisle.

Communion Hymns:

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, forevermore. Amen.

Immanuel’s WEEKLY Activities

TODAY: Sunday Afternoon Movie

What: Captivated—Finding Freedom in a Media Captive Culture

Where: Church Sanctuary

When: March 6 @ 1:30 p.m.

Runtime: 107 Minutes (with discussion available following)

Questions: Pastor Eichstadt

Brought to you by the Immanuel Evangelism Committee

More about Captivated: “Everywhere we go, we are surrounded by

screens. Have we entered a Techno utopia or a virtual prison?” Producer

and co-director, Phillip Telfer, asks this and other pertinent questions in the

documentary “Captivated: Finding Freedom in a Media Captive Culture.”

Everyone would agree that we live in a media-saturated society, but how

many consider the possibility that they have become captives? People of all

ages are being held hostage by television, video games, social networks,

movies, texting, tweeting, and more. They have become infatuated with the

things of the world and distracted from God, from eternity, and from

deeper relationships with each other. Captivated received the 2013 Gold

Crown Award for Best Documentary at the International Christian Visual

Media Conference. This documentary is not anti-media or anti-technology,

but raises concerns about the unchecked enthusiasm regarding media, and

highlights the overwhelming evidence of growing problems on multiple

fronts. It addresses the potential physical, moral, spiritual, mental, and

emotional impact of today’s media and technology when consumed or used

without discretion.
