A New Years Resolution... Try This! So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! 2 Corinthians 5:17 Author Bill Johnson writes, “ Look at Luke, Chapter 2 verse 16, and you find what Mary did when the shepherds show up and tell her the message that the angel spoke to them. They came with haste and found Mary and Joseph and the babe, “And when they had seen him they made widely known the saying which was told them about this child. All who heard it marveled at those things which were told by the shepherd. Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.” She treasured these things that God said and pondered them. She put them in a safe place. Look at what the verse before that says, “Everybody heard. Everybody marveled. But Mary treasured these things in her heart and pondered them.” How many of you understand that a lot of people marvel at what God says, but in this story, one out of a multitude treasured what He said. This is a defining moment. This is a distinguishing factor in the life of somebody who contributed, if you will, to shape the course of history. She embraced what she did not understand and she treasured whatever God spoke.” How do we at Immanuel-Trinity hold Jesus in our hearts? How do we ponder him? Do we treasure him enough to let him transform our lives? Can we to embrace what we do not understand and still walk boldly in the direction that God incarnate leads? Christmas is a wonderfully special time of year. The birth of our Savior allows us to bring together all that is best in heaven and on earth and splendor in the Glory of God’s love. Yet Christmas is also a time of great challenge, because the message of Christmas isn’t to stay in the stable and oogle the babe, but it is to begin and partner with this new revelation of God on his salvific mission. The “feelings” that Christmas produces will soon dissolve into “the same old hum-drum” if we let it. The Joy of Christmas eve is wasted if Christmas eve is but an event on the calendar. To truly “Christmas” is to take up God’s challenge and in faith walk boldly into daily life, proclaiming the Christ and living in his ways. That, friends, leads to another traditional event ... the New Years resolution. If you are like me, every year I vow to lose more weight, to watch TV less, to cherish more, and drive slower. But that usually only happens for a couple of days and I’m back to my old sinful self. This year I challenge us all to transform our lives to Jesus. To really take seriously God’s wanting to bless us and go out of our way to deepen our relationship with him. Join with me setting intentional times in our days to pray and listen for God’s response. To come and truly worship our God more and focus on all of the other “stuff” that distracts us from Jesus less. To bless people we encounter at every opportunity. To represent the healing hands of Jesus to those who are sick or hurting. In short, may our year long resolution be to allow ourselves to be shaped by Christ to be his ambassadors to all the world. “Create in us a new heart O God” so that we may have space to hold you in our hearts.... just like Mary. May all our endeavors be Blessed in 2016

A huge thank you to all of the musicians who participated in Advent and Christmas services, as well as the Cantata, "Journey of Promises!" The music was glorious and reflected the anticipation as we journeyed to the Joy of Christmas and welcomed our Savior, the Light of the World. Thank you also to everyone who took part in telling the Christmas story through our ALL church production of "TreeMendous Love!" Thank you to all brothers and sisters in Christ who blessed our home bound members with caroling!! It was wonder-ful seeing the faces of those shut-ins as they heard familiar Christmas carols, and their faces lit up with smiles of joy! As we move forward into the New Year, please continue to serve, praise and glorify God by sharing your gifts and talents! Your are blessed to be a blessing!!!

Chocolate News
! ! ! !
Happy New Year!
We hope that you are eating some of your Christmas chocolate as you are reading this
article. Of course, true chocolate lovers have probably eaten all of their chocolate and
have had to buy some more. We do have plenty of candy bars available if you need some
chocolate.
We noticed at our last sale that people bought more boxed candy than coffee. It usually is
the other way around. We thank all of our customers who were able to buy candy, candy
bars, and coffee recently. With your help we finished gifting the padded chairs for the
Sancti-gymnasium in November. We raised $8,150.75 in a little over 3 years. Thank you
again for your support.
Did you make any New Year’s resolutions? As you know, ours is: Eat more chocolate.
This year it could be: Eat more dark chocolate. We have mentioned in past columns that
dark chocolate is better for you because it contains less sugar, and that it is helpful in
stopping coughs. Beth Krause gave me an article from Scene Newspaper. In the June 2015
issue it said scientists from Northern Arizona University conducted a small study on eating
dark chocolate and found that it “may activate your brain in a way that helps increase your
levels of attention.” If you have a project or problem to tackle, eating a moderate size
piece of dark chocolate could help you “git-er-done.” I wonder if eating a little extra piece
would help you get it done faster?
Our quote this month gives us another reason to eat chocolate: Chocolate: a delicious
cure for a bad day. Of course, Jesus and prayer are always the best cures. A little
chocolate may help the waiting for an answer go by more pleasantly.
Thank you for your support,
Deborah Circle

ARE YOU READY? How many times have you said or have you heard someone else day “Are you ready?” It might have been for that immediate time right then; or the next day, week or month. But are you ready for that last day or hour of your life? It can happen at any time. How many times have you read or heard where someone young or old were taken out of this life by some unfortunate way? We all know this is something we don’t like to talk about, but it is something that is going to happen to everybody some-day. When, we don’t know. We see people treat this world like it was a permanent home. It’s Not. You see people pour time and energy into life like it will last forever. It won’t. You see people so proud of what they have done that they hope they will never have to leave this life. They will. You might say we are in TRANSIT. Like being on a plane or train-at some time you have to get off. You will find that if you get yourself ready for that day you can enjoy life more now and know every-thing was meant to be, knowing God is in control. This message was not to scare or to depress any-one. It was to remind people what Jesus said in John 10: 25 “I am resurrection and life; he who be-lieves in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.” Stephen Ministers are always ready to listen to anyone; at anytime; in any place. If you want to know more about Stephen Ministry get in touch with Dorothy Hoff (583-3231) or Ruth Auchtung (922-9282) or one of our Pastors (921-4545). If you need or want to be a Stephen Minister please contact Dorothy Hoff (583-3231),
