A Note from Fr. Mike With just a few pieces of bread and some fish Jesus feeds more than 5,000 people. An indication to us of not only the abundant feast waiting for us in the fullness of God’s Kingdom, but also the abundance of grace bestowed upon us here and now. Jesus takes the food, gives thanks to God and distributes it to the crowd. Jesus provides us with His Body and Blood in a similar way, so that we may be fed. The abundance of bread and fish help us to understand the abundance of grace provided in the Eucharist when we receive Jesus Himself. We are then called to use that grace not only for our own growth in holiness, but to serve and help other as well.

Peace,

Fr. Mike

Scripture Reflection 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time July 29, 2018

“There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so many?” (John 6:9) The miracle of the Loaves and Fishes is the only miracle which is recorded six times in the Gospel. It carries two important messages. First, no matter how little we have, we always have enough to share. Second, Christ can carry our humble gifts and do great things with them if we are just willing to let Him. No gift is too small or insignificant!
