Inauguration of BIPF-LVPEI Vision Center
“BIPF-LVPEI Vision Centre” has been inaugurated by
Mr Subhrakant Panda, MD & CEO, IMFA Ltd on 26th
November 2017 (56th Foundation day of IMFA). This was
the result of MoU signed with HEI (Hyderabad Eye
Institute) a trust of L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad
in May 2017.The aim of opening of this center is to
provide eye care services to all section of the society
living in and around Therubali area and beyond.
IMFA receives appreciation plaque for commendable
work in Education, Skill Development and Livelihood at
FICCI CSR Award 2016. Shri P P Choudhary, Minister of
State for Corporate Affairs, Law and Justice,
Government of India presents plaque to Mr T C Hota,
EVP, Bansidhar & Ila Panda Foundation, at Delhi on 30th

Ideate 2017: Panel Discussion on “Sports for Development - Education & Life
Skills”
Sports is a means of bringing about social change. An effective tool in addressing issues like gender
inequality, child marriage, juvenile crime, cognitive difficulties as well as essential issues maintaining positive
physical & mental health.
Bansidhar & Ila Panda Foundation organized Ideate 2017, a panel discussion on “Sports for Development-
Education & Life Skills” on 1st November 2017 at Hotel Mayfair, Bhubaneswar in partnership with FICCI Odisha
State Council. Mr Ranjib Biswal, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha and renowned Cricketer,
delivered the key-note address where he apprised the audience about the ground realities and the hurdles
& challenges that need to be surmounted for promotion of sports in the country. Other eminent panelists
included Mr Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Sports & Youth Services Department, Govt
of Odisha, Mr Moncho Ferrer, Program Director, Rural Development Trust, Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, Dr
Abhijeet Barse, Chief Executive Officer, Slum Soccer-Krida Vikas Sanstha, Nagpur, Ms Meha Bhardwaj,
Associate Editor (Sports), CNN IBN (Moderator). Panelists engaged in deliberations and discussions on issues
and challenges in streamlining sports as part of the development agenda, sharing research-based
knowledge & information, Government policies, role of development organizations and communities to
promote a comprehensive approach to sports. International Karate Ka, Ms Valena Valentina, shared her
experience with the audience.
Representatives from Government, Development sector, Corporates, Sports enthusiasts and media
participated during the interactive session.
Daan Utsav: “Joy of Giving week”
A gift shows that you care. Giving gifts for unknown faces
with the knowledge that it will make a significant
difference in their lives, gives an inner joy that is
incomparable. The “Joy of Giving week” was
celebrated by Bansidhar & Ila Panda Foundation from
2nd - 8th October 2017 at CHQ followed by other sites of
IMFA. Employees of IMFA & BIPF participated in this event
by donating materials like books, used/new clothes,
accessories, toys etc. The collected materials were distributed to the needy through NGO, “Bakul
Foundation”.
Opening of Community Education Center
To provide basic literacy & financial training to
adolescent girls & women, community education
centers were opened at Banjhiama and
Kochilanuagaon village of Mangarajpur G.P. of
Choudwar block. The Banjhiama center was
inaugurated by Shri Ranendra Pratap Swain,
Honorable MLA, Athagarh and the Kochilanuagaon
center was inaugurated by Mr SK Sahajan, ATMA
chairman in presence of Mrs Madhusmit Sethi, Zilla Parishad & village Sarpanch. Both centers will train at
least 60 adolescent girls and women and will act as a resource center for the areas. BIPF supplied all study
material to them.

certificate of commendation from Mr Jaco Cillier, Country Director UNDP, and Mr. Akhil Bansal, Deputy CEO,
India, KPMG in a formal function held at New Delhi on 19/July/2017.
World Youth Skill Day at BIPF Choudwar Skill Center
World Youth Skill Day(15th July 2017 )was celebrated at
BIPF Choudwar Skill Center . Mr Subroto Bagchi,
Chairman, Odisha Skill Development Authority, Mr Nirmal
Ch Mishra, Collector & Dist. Magistrate, Cuttack, Mr
Balwant Singh, Dir, Directorate of Technical Education &
Training & other dignitaries visited the center on the
occasion. Mr Bagchi discussed with the SMO trainees
about scope and prospectus of DDU-GKY skill development program. His motivational speech raised the
enthusiasm of trainees who hail from remote areas of Odisha.
4th Shamabhavi Puraskar awarded to Mr Hari Sankar Rout
The prestigious Shambhavi Puraskar 2017 was conferred on Mr Hari Sankar Rout at a formal function held on
16th April 2017 at Bhubaneswar. Chief Guest, Mr Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Skill
Development& Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge), Govt. of India, and Guest of Honour Prof Swapan
Kumar Datta, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal, presented the
award to Mr Rout. The Shambhavi Puraskar was instituted in 2014 by BIPF, is to highlight the achievements of
silent heroes who carry on social work undaunted by the enormity of the challenges and inspire others to
follow in their footsteps.
The recipient Mr Hari Sankar Rout, an Engineer by profession, has been working in the most inaccessible
pockets of Kandhamal district of Odisha, on Natural Resource Management (NRM) and livelihood promotion
of marginalised communities. His significant contribution is the installation of a 7.5 KW micro-hydroelectric
project, diverting water from Bhim Jharan stream through pipeline to Dangarpadar village of Tumudibandha
Block. This ensures 24 hours electricity supply, water for domestic use and diversion-based irrigation in the
village. As Founder Secretary of Social Welfare Agency & Training Institute (SWATI), he has undertaken
programs like plantation based livelihood under WADI, management of land, water, forest, biological
resources for sustained agricultural productivity etc. and providing assistance and training in both on-farm
and off-farm activities to ensure livelihood promotion of primitive tribal groups like Kutia Kandha residing in
Belghar area of Tumudibandha block of Kandhamal.
Hon’ble Minister Mr Rudy congratulated Mr Rout for his contribution to society and expressed his deep
appreciation for BIPF for instituting the Shambhavi Puraskar act as a game changer in inspiring more people
to be benevolent. Speaking on the occasion Ms Shaifalika Panda, CEO, BIPF said “We are privileged to
recognize Mr Rout’s vision, innovative thinking and ability to lead systematic implementation of holistic
solutions in tribal villages with sustainable impact. It is hoped that his success would pave the way for others
to venture into social uplift.”
The Shamabhavi Puraskar winner is selected by an independent and eminent Jury panel with
representatives from NGOs, civil society, media and BIPF. The award carries a trophy, citation and a cash
prize of Rs 2.5 lakh. The function was attended by a large number of representatives from various sectors
including NGO's, social workers, Govt. officials, and corporate houses.
Prof Ghanashyam Dash Scholarship for 2016
The 12th edition of Prof Ghanashyam Dash Scholarship awarded to six meritorious students from Odisha,
pursuing professional degree courses in different disciplines. The selected students will get 90% of academic
fees and related expenses for the entire duration of the course with the annual limit of Rs 1, 00,000 /-.
Annwesha Anuraupa Dhal from Upper Telenga Bazar, Cuttack, Debaprasad Biswal from Bantara Jajpur,
Subhrajyoti Jena from Sanatihada, Jagatsinghpur, Tapas Kumar Sar from Rasol, Dhenkanal, Punyashloka
Panda from Rourkela, Sundargarh and Amindra Khilla, from Maliguda, Koraput got the scholarship for 2016.Ms
Dhal and Mr Biswal are pursuing MBBS at MKCG Medical College & Hospital, Berhampur & VSS Institute of
Medical Science & Research, Burla, Sambalpur respectively. Similarly, Mr Jena, Mr Sar, Mr Panda & Mr Khilla
are doing B. Tech at NIT, Rourkela, VSSUT, Burla, IIT, Dharwad and CET, Bhubaneswar respectively. Mr
Subhrakant Panda, Managing Director & CEO, IMFA presented the scholarship to the students in presence
of Ms Shaifalika Panda, CEO, BIPF, Mr Jayant Misra, Director -Corporate & COO,IMFA and Mr T C Hota,
Executive Vice-President, BIPF. Instituted in the year 2005, this scholarship named after renowned historian
Late Prof Ghanashyam Dash, father of Late Ms Ila Panda, is an effort to provide financial assistance to the
students from economically marginalized families to realize their dreams and promote professional
education.
Ms Shaifalika Panda, CEO, BIPF at the launching of "Alliance for Dual VET”
Ms Shaifalika Panda was one of the
panelists at the launching conference of
the “Alliance for Dual VET” on
15/March/2017 at New Delhi. She
participated in the discussion on “What’s
in it for the Participating Industry?” The
objective of “Alliance for Dual VET” was
to contribute to the implementation of
dual structures in the vocational education and training system (VET) of India. Dual VET is a German system
wherein trainees attend classes at a vocational school and receive on-the-job training at a company. The
Alliance was initiated and facilitated by German Ambassador to India, His Excellency Dr. Martin Ney, Liz
Mohn, Vice-chair of the Bertelsmann Foundation’s Executive Board and its Board of Trustees. Sri Rajiv Pratap
Rudy, Hon’ble Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship also participated in the launching
conference.
As a major boost for “Skill India” more than 20 Indian industrialists and company leaders elaborated strategies
and underlined their commitment by signing the founding declaration.
6thFoundation Day of Bansidhar & Ila Panda Foundation
Bansidhar & Ila Panda Foundation celebrated its
6th foundation day on 14th March 2017.On this
occasion a health camp was organized at Sri Sri
Balunkeswar Bidyapitha, Balichaturi, Banipada
GP of Choudwar municipality. More than 500
patients were treated in the camp & provided
free medicines. Four Medical Officers along with
orthopedic specialist from SCB Medical College provided free health care services in the camp. Sri
Bijayananda Mohapatra, Head Power-BU & EIC inaugurated the health camp in the presence of Ajay Kumar
Mishra, GM HR & Adm along with Sarapanch & Samiti Members of Banipada GP, School Headmaster & Staff
& other village leaders. Volunteers and helpers from the village took part in this health camp. The aim of the
camp was to provide specialized treatment and create health awareness in people. One of the major
objective of the foundation is to educate the community on personal/community hygiene matters and
preventive health care measures, hence it will continue such type of awareness camp in present as well as in
future for well-being of the society.
Celebration of International Women's Day
International Women’s Day was celebrated in a
special way with SHG members at Nuasahi & trainees
of BIPF Choudwar Skill center. At Choudwar Skill center,
this year’s International Women’s Day theme-“Be Bold
for Change “was highlighted through various
videos. Participants shared personal views on the pride
they felt as a woman. At Nuasahi the program was
started with devotional song by SHG members & followed by open Jhoti & traditional song competition. It is
celebrated to make the SHG members confident enough to claim their rights for sustainable Development.
BIPF is the PIA (Project Implementation Agency) for MoRD Skill Program
After successful completion of DDU-
GKY 1st project in which 231 trained &
placed with different companies
across India, BIPF signed 2nd MoU with
ORMAS on dt 27/02/2017 for
implementing the project in Odisha.
The DDU-GKY is a placement linked
skill-development program by Ministry
of Rural Development (MoRD) for
developing skills and productive
capacity of the rural youth. ORMAS is
the nodal agency for program implementation in Odisha. Under 2nd project for one year a total 360
candidates will be trained in Industrial Sewing Machine Operator (ISMO), Electrician Domestics & Turning trade.
BIPF Choudwar Skill Centre is imparting training to girls as SMO & BIPF JK Pur Skill Centre is imparting training to
boys for the trades of Electrician Domestics & Turning. This participation of BIPF in the state agenda “Skilled
Odisha-Empowered Odisha” is another step forward by IMFA group towards economic empowerment of local
youth. From 1st project the SMO trainees have been placed with various garment companies like M/S Best
Corporation Pvt. Ltd, Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, Poppys Knit Wear Pvt. Ltd, Kongu Nagar Extn., Tirupur, Tamil Nadu
and Kitex Ltd, Aluva, Kerala and the technical trainees are placed with M/s. FIEM Industries, Hossur, Tamil Nadu.
Inauguration of BIPF Sukinda ITI (Pvt)
BIPF Sukinda ITI was formally inaugurated on
08/12/2016 by Sri Debi Prasad Mishra, Hon'ble
Minister - Industries, School & Mass Education in
presence of Sri Pritiranjan Gharai, MLA-Sukinda, Sri
Priyadarshi Mishra, MLA- BBSR (North), Smt Shaifalika
Panda, CEO-BIPF and Sri T C Hota, EVP- BIPF. Sri Debi
Prasad Mishra expressed his pleasure over this noble
initiative of IMFA and appealed to the CEO-BIPF to
take up sensitization about skill development
programmes at School and Intermediate level which
the current State Govt is focusing on. Sri Pritiranjan
Gharai appealed the youth mass to develop entrepreneurial skills for self-employment as well as to create
employment opportunity for more youths rather than running after jobs after getting trained from such
institutes. Smt Shaifalika Panda, CEO, BIPF in her welcome address said “Our aim is to raise the bar of
vocational training in the state and contribute towards the “Skilled in Odisha” mission. The programme was
attended by public representatives, media persons, students & their parents and other local dignitaries as
well as villagers of the locality.BIPF Sukinda ITI (Pvt), the new state of the art residential ITI set up on a five acre
campus with 45000 sq ft constructed area. The sprawling campus comprises of a training institute, equipped
workshops, hostel, residential quarters for teaching staff, 100 kv power supply, internet facility, computer lab
& playground. It is affiliated to NCVT through QCI under DGE &T, New Delhi, and offers training in trades like
welder, fitter & electrician. The objective of the institute is to go beyond the syllabus and curriculum as
prescribed and mold the trainees to develop courage and self-confidence to meet the competitive skilled
world through employability and entrepreneurship. In its 1st year of establishment 96 students have been
enrolled at BIPF Sukinda ITI (Pvt).
Project Unnati -Integrated Self-help Initiative for Women’s Empowerment
Project Unnati, an integrated self-help initiative (i.e.
finance & livelihood, education, health, nutrition,
sanitation & hygiene etc.) by the Foundation, aims to
transform the lives of rural women, by providing a
platform for social action. It is implemented across 4 sites
of operation area covering 19 Villages, supporting 81
SHGs & mobilizing 1300 women for socio economic
empowerment by building their capacity with skill and
knowledge. The SHG members will be the change
agents for the development of the entire community. Out of the total SHG members Schedule Tribe
constitute 48% followed by member from Other Backward Cast & Schedule Cast communities. Encouraged
Women SHG members and farmers for Systemic Rice Intensification (SRI) method of paddy cultivation.
Trained them on goat-rearing and poultry farming in
convergence with Block level Animal Husbandry
Department on a regular basis. As of now 28 units of
poultry and 71 units of goat-rearing are being
managed by women in our project area. Some
members are earning through mushroom cultivation
too. Periodical refresher training has been organized
for vegetable & mushroom cultivation. Exposure
visits were organized to learn sustainable agriculture
practices. 80 SHGs are linked with banks and
availed financial assistance. Maa Saraswati SHG of Sakosinga village, Angul promoted by us under Project
