IMET is committed to providing a welcoming environment to a diverse body of undergraduates with a goal of providing a strong pipeline of students continuing to higher degrees in these fields. To promote this, we are offering summer undergraduate internships from June 1 to July 31, 2020. IMET, located in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, offers students the opportunity to conduct a nine-week research project in marine sciences. Students will receive an orientation to working in a lab, seminars on the use of molecular techniques relevant to fisheries, aquaculture, energy production, and environmental research. Group activities will promote professional and life skill development, as well as science communication. Internship Benefits: The internship includes a wage of $13.50 per hour for a 40-hour week. Accommodations at UMBC will be available for those from outside of the Baltimore Metropolitan Area. MTA passes will be provided for local travel in the Baltimore area. Internship Eligibility: The internship is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are enrolled as undergraduates in fields related to biological sciences and have a GPA of 3.0 or above.
