• If you and your recipients are using Apple devices and iMessage is

turned on, then the group message is sent as an iMessage.

Types of group messages

NOTE: Your phone will use whichever service is fastest.

The Messages app automatically chooses the type of group message to send

based on you and your recipients' settings, network connection, and carrier plan.

• If you send a group message to people who aren't using iMessage,

then the message is sent as an MMS or SMS message.

If you have iCloud activated: iCloud now keeps your entire message history updated

and available on all your devices — even when you set up a brand new device.

KEEP YOUR MESSAGES IN iCLOUD

When you delete a message, photo, or conversation on one device, it is removed from all of your devices. And, since all of your attachments are stored in iCloud

you can save space on your device.

Download iMessage Apps

1. To go to the App Store for iMessage, tap .

2. Tap  or the price icon next to the app, then tap Install. You might need to enter your Apple ID password to complete the purchase.

3. Tap  to return to your message.4. After the app downloads, you can find it

in your app drawer.

Some apps let you make additional purchases within the app. If you set up Family Sharing, you can use Ask to Buy to help control app downloads and in-app purchases.

in front of them.

1. Open Messages and tap   to start a new message. Or go to an existing conversation.

2. If you have an iPhone, turn it sideways. If you have an iPad, tap   on the keyboard.

3. Write your message or select one of the options at the bottom of the screen.

4. If you need to start over, tap Undo or Clear. When you're finished, tap Done. Then tap   to send.

WITH CAMERA EFFECTS

1. Open Messages and tap  to create a new message. Or go to an existing conversation.

2. Tap  .

3. Tap   , then select Animoji *   , Filters , Text  , Shapes  , or an iMessage app. You can add more than one effect to a photo or video.

4. After you select the effect that you want to use, tap   in bottom-right corner, then tap  .

5. Tap   to Send or tap Done to add a personal message before you send your photo. If you don't want to send the photo, tap   in the upper-right corner of the photo.

ADD A SKETCH TO A PHOTO or VIDEO

1. In Messages, tap   and enter a contact. Or go to an existing conversation.

2. Tap , then tap  . The sketch pad turns into a video preview.

3. Tap   to create a 10 second video. Or tap   to take a photo.

4. If you want to start over, tap .

5. When you're ready to send, tap  .

NOTE: The Messages app deletes video messages after 2 minutes.

Tap Keep to save the video.
