Kindergarten will be finishing up the school year with our main focus being on reading at grade level. We are also finishing up our blends, special sounds, reviewing rainbow words, greater than/less than, word problems, animals and Mother's Day activities. We will be taking a field trip to Three Creeks Park with details to follow soon. We are so sad to see the year coming to an end, but super proud of the growth the students have made throughout the year. Have an amazing summer!!!!

Second Grade News

In ELA the students are writing research papers about topics that interest them. We will also be taking the Math and ELA STAR tests, but we will enjoy the end of the year by going on our field trip to see Beauty and the Beast. In math we will be graphing number pairs on a coordinate system to determine if there is a relationship. We will also attempt to find solutions for relations with two variables and graph the solutions. The students did well on their Social Studies AIR tests. They have worked very hard this year. We will now be switching gears and focusing on science for the rest of the year. Seventh grade does not have anything to report at this time. Please contact the seventh grade teachers if you have any questions.

Third Grade News

In ELA we are working on a new novel called Shiloh. We are comparing the book to the movie to end out school year and novel. We have the chicken eggs and will have baby chicks hatching this month for life science. In math we are reviewing standards and preparing for 5th grade math.

Fourth Grade News

Third graders will be going on a field trip to United Skates on May 12th. Also, students that showed effort on their AIR tests will be attending the effort reward trip to the bowling alley on May 5th. In ELA, students will be working on their inventor/invention research projects. In math, students will be doing review of skills they have learned this year. Lastly, in social studies students will be learning about important people and events in history and in science we will be discussing and observing our chicken eggs.

Second graders will be busy the month of May exploring, studying, and writing poetry. Science is going to be all about animals and creating animal information pamphlets and diagrams. In social studies students will be focused on economics. Students will also learn the difference between needs and wants/ good and services. Math classes are still working hard on reading and telling time as well as learning about money. Ask a second grader what it means to be kind to others or lend a helping hand and they will be sure to share many stories with you as we have been incorporating kindness in many daily lessons. Friday, May 5th is the field trip to Blacklick Woods Metro Park! Be on the lookout for our awesome tie-dye shirts!

We have one last round of STAR testing coming up (one class period from Math and ELA) in a few weeks. For the rest of the year in ELA, Math, and Social Studies we are working on projects and supplemental review assignments. These projects have individual activities that students are to complete at their own pace, see project papers for due dates. Please check frequently with your child on their progress. In 8th grade ELA, the students will also be working on small projects focusing on dystopian societies and reading the book "Uglies" by Scott Westerfeld. In Social Studies students have a variety of small project ideas that they can pick from to explore the American Civil War, and they have every day in class to work on their projects. 8th Grade Graduation is on Tuesday, May 23rd at 1:00 in the Prep Building's Gym. Due to space constraints please no more than 4 people per family.
