DIRECTOR’S STATEMENTI’m incredibly proud to say that ADI’s rentals department are experiencing their best year ever. We’ve managed to surpass the significant successes of 2012, a year which saw us supply historic national occasions like the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the entire Torch Relay and multiple events at the London Olympics. We anticipated the inevitable contraction of the market in 2013 but did not expect the same level of sales as the Olympic year until 2015 at the earliest. However, this historic target was exceeded within the first seven months of 2014; thanks to our ongoing fleet expansion, development of the sales and operational teams, and ever expanding markets, with events such as the Tour De France Grand Départ, Glasgow’s Commonwealth Festival and Coca Cola’s summer tour of France – with a combined 319 screen rental days across these alone.

With continued investment in research and development, the launch of stunning new products, re-screening existing models and recruitment, we have won an amazing selection of work with both new and existing clients and secured prestigious contracts like the Goodwood Estate’s diverse events calendar. The strength of operations and expansion of the sales team has also allowed the brand to obtain contracts right across Europe, with an ever-greater presence in France, Spain, Belgium and Ireland.

The LED screen rental market has, in my opinion, recently been too focused on screen resolution, rather than finding the correct solution for the venue, audience, application and budget or the ability of the provider to deliver and support the service. However, this is shifting as customer service, operational efficiency and safety become the predominant factors. There’s no doubting the strength of our award-winning iCONIC fleet, but what really underpins our success are the high levels of service and technical expertise we provide – no matter how many jobs we deliver, how big or small the client, customer satisfaction is paramount.

Beyond the Rentals department, my colleagues in Production and Installations are building enviable portfolios of work, with custom projects across retail, outdoor media, leisure and stadia, showcasing our vast pool of skills and services. Some of Europe’s busiest shopping centres, largest leisure venues and modern sports stadia feature our solutions, which are helping to deliver engaging and immersive experiences while bringing wide-reaching commercial value to our clients.

It’s an exciting time for the company as we grow from strength to strength, with the consistent ability to innovative and offer market-leading products and services to our ever more knowledgeable and exacting clientele.

NEW ICONIC60 STAGEWhen ADI used their engineering know-how to produce unique vehicles that combine both stage and large screen, the iCONIC 60 Stage was born! These all-in-one solutions are based on our ever-popular iCONIC 60, but with the added benefit of a 25m² stage that un-folds from the trailer. They are easily the largest of their kind in the UK, and since organisers don’t need to procure a stage and screen separately they offer cost savings and reduce man-power.

NEW iFLY25+The iFLY25 soars above the competition in the market, often imitated never bettered! ADI’s unique iFLY25 raised the bar when it was launched back in 2011, providing an incredibly versatile 25m² LED screen built on a hydraulic arm for incredible reach and bespoke positioning. To further improve this product we have re-screened the iFLY25, which now features 10mm SMD, delivering incredible picture and clarity. With its new display it joins our other high resolution iCONIC+ screens, and accordingly will now be known as the iFLY25+.

SOCIAL SCREENSWhat better way to boost interactivity and engagement with your event audience than creating a giant tweet wall. The iCONIC+ screens provide the best digital platform to display live Twitter feeds thanks to their magazine-like image quality, with options for full screen solution or a ticker strap over-laid on live footage.

At mass participation events people are eager to interact, whether it’s entering a competition, offering messages of support for participants or just to say what an amazing time they are having! On a deeper level, social media platforms are an effective way for brands and businesses to gain data capture and useful insights into their audience.

OUTSIDE BROADCASTAND PRODUCTION

ADI’s newest OB vehicle made its debut at Chinese New Year in Trafalgar Square

One of our editors at work

ADI’s diverse client base have equally varied requirements for what is to be displayed on the iCONIC screens. We can take a feed from an on-site source, whether it be an international broadcaster or simply the client’s laptop, however an ever increasing number of events require full production facilities to engage and entertain their audiences – there is no point having the biggest and best LED screens without great content to display!ADI operate three outside broadcast vehicles and several portable production units (PPU’s), we own full broadcast system cameras with remote engineering, tally and comms as well as stand-alone ENG camera kits. We can display and record in HD and have a range of graphics

and playback facilities to ensure all modern file types can be shown with additional sources such as social media feeds, RF links and media servers. In addition ADI are regularly required to provide signal distribution around sites and own a significant stock of broadcast and fibre optic cable as well as multiple licensed RF links.

Our history of being appointed the OB and production facilities provider to the entire 2012 Olympic Torch Relay, The Glasgow Commonwealth Festival and many more national events proves our ability to operate at the highest level, but we are equally comfortable delivering smaller events such as experiential marketing campaigns.

ADI also have full pre and post production facilities in-house with eight full-time editors giving us the ability to create content to display at an event or to help generate sponsorship for future years.

Offering the technical and staffing solutions from 6x full broadcast cameras to a single stand-alone camera or graphics operator, our experienced engineers and project managers work alongside clients to tailor bespoke facilities that maximise production values within their budget.

FESTIVAL 2014 KEY FACTS

IN THE ZONE DURING GLASGOW GAMES

The eyes of the world were on Glasgow this summer as they hosted the 20th Commonwealth Games. Unprecedented crowds flocked to the Scottish city to enjoy thrilling atmosphere and sporting action, with specially created Live Zones a key part of the Games. The Live Zones hosted Festival 2014 – a programme of culture and live entertainment that featured across central venues like Glasgow Green, Merchant City and the recently refurbished Kelvingrove Bandstand. An essential part of any live zone are large viewing screens to allow for mass communication, so ADI worked with Glasgow City Council to deliver a wide variety of LED displays and OB services

across each location. The team were awarded the tender back in 2013 and applied a considerable amount of their time, technical expertise and logistical know-how to plan a truly bespoke solution for Festival 2014.

Glasgow Green Live Zone was at the heart of the Games, hosting Opening and Closing ceremony celebrations, but also the marathon, cycling time trial and road race start line. In addition to live sport, the public were also treated to a selection of music, comedy, dance and hospitality in the beautiful park, which had been specially transformed.

For the main stage, ADI installed three 36sqm flown LED screens and nearby one of the innovative iCONIC 60 Stage mobiles was positioned, broadcasting live programming across Glasgow Green. Inside the stunning People’s Palace and Winter Gardens, ADI also created a

semi-permanent screen featuring 6mm SMD.

Across town is Kelvingrove Bandstand, one of Glasgow’s well-loved cultural venues and a natural location for a Commonwealth Live Zone. iCONIC 12s either side the re-developed bandstand enhanced the enjoyment of live music, performing arts and story-telling.

ADI solutions could also be seen at the Merchant City Festival – Glasgow’s annual cultural extravaganza that was extended over 11 days and nights. A celebration of art, fashion and dance from across the Commonwealth attracted thousands, and the team built a flown LED display for the main stage area.

The screen element across all 3 locations was complimented by a full ADI outside broadcast solution, incorporating cameras, production and mixing facilities, with the team creating over 12 hours of live content every day of the games.

Golf enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the action and will never miss a shot thanks to the carefully positioned iCONICs. They also play an important role in event hospitality by allowing spectators to take a rest from following the action on foot, and instead take a seat in front of the big screens and enjoy the food and drink on offer.

UP ON THE BIG SCREENSATURDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIESDrive-in cinemas have become increasingly popular over the past few years, bringing a slice of vintage Americana and nostalgic entertainment to the public, who can enjoy the best of film from the comfort of their own car. SHOPPING SPREE

Our domination of the shopping centre Digital Out Of Home landscape continues, with full-motion advertising screens created for some of the UK’s busiest premium malls. Our custom LED screen solutions are providing high-impact for brand advertisers and an engaging shopping experiences for the public, while importantly delivering commercial returns for the centres through the ownership model, which we fully advocate.

Through this model, a centre receives considerably more revenue from media sales by procuring screen hardware themselves – which needn’t be the challenging process people sometimes imagine, with ADI providing centralised project management during installation and full localised support over the lifetime of the technology.

LIVERPOOL LANDMARKLiverpool’s Church Street, one of the busiest retail hubs in North West England, features one of our standout media installations. A large 26m² video screen is seamlessly incorporated into the façade of the Forever 21’s fl agship store, where it promotes a range of global brands and draws the eye of shoppers in a landmark location.

The giant display showcases ADI’s new 10mm outdoor front-access SMD product – chosen specifi cally to meet the stringent planning requirements involved in the project, whilst maximising in-store retail space and minimising long-term service disruptions. In addition to reinforcing the presence of the new store and providing impact for advertisers, the screen also brings a fl avour of New York’s Times Square to Liverpool; reminiscent of Forever 21’s famous NYC fl agship store which features a giant interactive display on its exterior.

SHOW-STOPPERWe’ve helped Birmingham Hippodrome digitize their exterior by converting existing signage to a high impact LED solution. A 20m² LED display, back-lit lettering and light strips combine to bring greater fl exibility and promotional impact to one of the UK’s largest touring venues. With their ability to show high quality video clips and exclusive previews, Birmingham Hippodrome are attracting increased interest from the passing public, which ultimately drives footfall and ticket sales for the range of world-class productions, shows and performances they host throughout the year.

By incorporating a digital screen the Hippodrome can communicate their extensive programme in a single signage solution, taking external marketing to a whole new level and achieving greater standout for the venue itself. Our specialism in LED and ability to oversee the entire project were key reasons we were chosen for the installation.

PARK LIFEADI worked closely with Thorpe Park management to design and install a venue-wide solution that features over 30 LED displays of varying size. Digital touch-points are visible from the moment visitors enter the park, with a sizeable 17m² display off ering a unique welcome with incredible content and footage of the rides.
