One Night Only.

Page 3: Images analysis

How they are represented?• One night only are an Indie-pop band. They are represented to be

casual, fun and energetic. There music reflect this as it it quite upbeat.

• Their videos show the typical conventions of the music video by showing the band members playing instruments such as guitars, drums, keyboard and a lead singer.

• The video also show a lot of close ups of the artist which is another convention of a the indie-pop genre.

• There lyrics and tune are simple which makes the song really catchy and recognisable.

Their albums. One Night Only have had a few albums such as One Night Only and Started a Fire.

Their albums covers a quite similar. They are set up in a similar way that all five band members are featured on the cover and the writing and the colours are pretty dull.

• In their videos they use a variety of shots such as medium shots, close ups and long shots, this will appeal to the

audience as they will be able to view the members of the band from different views.

• The lead singer gets more close ups in their videos compared to the other members this is probably because the audience usually would rather see the the lead singer more than the other member as the singer is usually most

populist band member. They usually show lots of close ups of the lead singer to promote the band.

The Wombats.

Page 7: Images analysis

How they are represented?• The Wombats are a indie-pop/indie rock band. The are

represented as fun and energetic. This is how most indie-pop band a represented.

• In their vides you always see the band performing in someway either together or separately just like most typical indie-pop bands.

• The lyrics of their songs are usually simple, upbeat and repetitive which makes them more recognisable.

Their image is casual as the tend to dress in jeans and t-

shirts that any their fans could buy on the normal high-street.

Sometimes the do dress smart but still have that hit of casual, I think they do this as they want to be able to relate to their audience. There have

hairstyles that are not outrageous but simple

everyday styles.

Page 9: Images analysis

Their Albums.• In their album covers they tend to use similar font styles, the style is kind of represented as fun and casual which

reflect the band image.• The images and colour

tend to be bright and fun except for the ‘let’s dance for joy division’ which is kind of the

opposite.

The Smiths.

Page 11: Images analysis

How they are represented.• The Smith are and indie-pop band. They are an older

band compared to the other artist I have analysed.• They are still energetic but their songs are not as fun and

upbeat as band associated with indie pop today.• Their video still tend to feature the band performing and

uses a lot of close ups on the lead singer.• The lyrics are more serious but are still pretty simple

which could easily become catchy and are recognisable.

Page 12: Images analysis

• The Smith still dress casually but as this

was a different era to other indie-pop bands I

have research, the dress style is different. • They show more skin than most other indie-

pop bands as they wear items of clothing such as blazers with

no top under.

Page 13: Images analysis

Their Albums.• The image of their album seems pretty

dull compared to most indie-pop bands today, the colours used are mainly greys, black and white and the

images are particularly happy images as most of the time the person in the front isn’t even

smiling.
