Symbolism tool gallery

The symbolism tools let you create and modify sets of symbol instances. You create a symbol set using theSymbol Sprayer tool. You can then use the other symbolism tools to change the density, color, location, size,rotation, transparency, and style of the instances in the set.

The Symbol Sprayertool (Shift+S) placesmultiple symbolinstances as a set onthe artboard. SeeCreate symbol sets.

The Symbol Shifter toolmoves symbolinstances and changestacking order. SeeChange stacking orderof symbol instances in aset.

Graph tool gallery

Illustrator provides nine graph tools, each one for creating a different type of graph. The type of graph youchoose depends on the information you want to communicate. See Create a graph.

The Column Graph tool(J) creates graphs thatcompare values usingvertical columns.

The Stacked ColumnGraph tool createsgraphs that are similarto column graphs, butstacks the columns ontop of one another,instead of side by side.This graph type isuseful for showing therelationship of parts tothe total.

The Bar Graph toolcreates graphs that aresimilar to columngraphs, but positions thebars horizontally insteadof vertically.

The StackedBar Graphtool createsgraphs thatare similar tostackedcolumngraphs, butstacks thebarshorizontallyinstead ofvertically.

The Line Graph toolcreates graphs that usepoints to represent oneor more sets of values,with a different linejoining the points ineach set. This type ofgraph is often used toshow the trend of one ormore subjects over aperiod of time.

The Area Graph toolcreates graphs that aresimilar to line graphs,but emphasizes totalsas well as changes invalues.

The Scatter Graph toolcreates graphs that plotdata points as pairedsets of coordinates alongthe x and y axes. Scattergraphs are useful foridentifying patterns ortrends in data. They alsocan indicate whethervariables affect oneanother.

The PieGraph toolcreatescirculargraphs whosewedgesrepresent therelativepercentagesof the valuescompared.

The Radar Graph toolcreates graphs thatcompare sets of values atgiven points in time or inparticular categories,and is displayed in acircular format. This typeof graph is also called aweb graph.

Moving and zooming tool gallery

Illustrator provides the following tools for moving around in and controlling the view of the artboard:
