12

13

It was just past midnight Angaar and his men werefast asleep Only two bandits were on guardSuddenly Angaar woke up He could hear a strangesound He got up and picking up his sword rushedout of his tent The other dacoits too were comingout of their enclosures spears and swords in hand ldquoWhooshrdquo There was the sound again It seemed tobe growing louder and closer ldquoWHOOSHrdquo Angaar looked around A dust storm seemed to begathering momentum

14

Trees had started swaying and the noise was slowlybecoming deafening ldquoWHOOSH WHOOSHrdquo Angaar felt himself beingpicked up by the air current He desperately tried tohold on flaying his arms and legs but it was no useHe was flying in the air To his left was his deputy Jarnail looking like anungainly dinosaur To his right was his mostaccomplished swordsman Talwar air-borne like hiscolleagues desperately trying to reach out for hissword which was flying ahead of him A few minuteslater there was a splash

15

16

They landed in the river to the south of the villageAs they swam to the shore spluttering andshivering a huge shadow loomed over their heads ldquoAngaar you scoundrelrdquo the shadow thundered itsvoice echoing in the night ldquoYhellipyesrdquo stammered the dreaded Angaar He hadnever been so terrified in his life since the day hisfather Rosh Bundela had walloped him for eatingup his jalebis ldquoThis time I have merely roughed you up Next timeif you or any of your men come anywhere close tothe village Irsquoll rip each and every limb from yourbodies and chew them uprdquo ldquoYyes Maharaj we will never again come within athousand miles of this placerdquo
