What is Illuminate?

The Illuminate mission: Provide tools that educators

can use to create student and educator success..

Illuminate Data and Assessment (DnA) allows educators to easily manage their data needs so that they can make informed instructional decisions that impact student achievement.

Your Dashboard:

● From here, navigate

to students, reports

and assessments

● Use the “universal search” to quickly find a student or

system area

● Use the “Dashboard” link to get back to this

page from anywhere in the system

● Use the control panel to see your current

settings and access help

Student Profile:

“Quick” Assessments:

On the fly:

1. Enter the number of items you would like to assess

2. Enter / scan your correct answers

3. Scan in student bubble sheets

4. Save data

A quick way to enter student assessment data into Illuminate. Usually used as a “Do Now” or

“Exit Ticket”

assessment data within Illuminate

Itembank:

The Illuminate Itembank features tools to easily create:● items● questions● passages● assessments

Assessments can be created using items from:● A community driven public itembank● Key Data Systems INSPECT itembank● Items created by you● A combination of any of the above

Creating an assessment:1. Assessments

2. Create a new assessment

3. Choose which type of assessment you’d like to create

4. For “On the fly” or “Manual setup” type in the number of questions on your assessment

5. Click Okay

On the fly:

You can input your answer key by either:

1. Scanning it in

OR

2. Entering it manually

3. Click Scan Student Responses to move to the next page

On the fly:1. Scan student

responses

2. Click Save and view results

Note that you are only viewing results right now. Student

responses will not automatically save as an assessment.

3. Click Save as an Assessment if you want to save your results.

4. You may now title your assessment and align it to standards if you choose.

Manual set up:1. Give your assessment a title

All other options are considered optional, but helpful in locating the assessment in the Assessment List:

2. Provide a description about the assessment3/4. First date administered and Academic year will generate by default to the date and year the assessment is being created5. Apply a Subject, Scope, and Grade Level

(s) 6. For System Admin or those with the

permission only can Lock Assessment and its features from users

7. Show in parent portal is only for districts using the parent portal

8. Select a Performance Band Set to apply to the assessment. The district default will always apply unless changed.

9. Save once completed

Manual set up:Use the tabs across the top of the next page to navigate to different

parts of the assessment.

Create an Itembank assessment:The first time that you visit Itembank, you

will need to set up an account.

You will only need to do this one time

First, enter your district email address when prompted1. Enter an email address.

2. Enter first name

3. Enter last name

4. Create a password. The following

rules must be followed when creating

your password:

● It must be at least 6 characters

(letters and/or numbers) long.

● It must not contain spaces.

Passwords are case sensitive

5. Re-type your password.

6. Click Sign Up.

Create an Itembank assessment:There are 3 tabs or modules within the Itembank:

Create an Itembank assessment:

Start by naming your assessment

Then select the standards you are

assessingOnce you’ve linked

standards, click continue

Create an Itembank assessment:Use the search

filters to filter for the types of items you would like to add

Create an Itembank assessment:

Choose the item or items that you want

and click Add

Once you are happy with the items you have chosen, click

Continue

Create an Itembank assessment:

Review displays

items selected and

offers shuffling

answer choices

and removing items

Overview displays the assessment by sections, if

applicable

Select Booklet to generate or print a copy of a teacher or student Edition and select

layout preferences

Publish sends over a locked, published copy of the assessment to the Illuminate Assessment List, ready for administration and all materials attached

Report Cards:

Report Cards:Once you've clicked Find Students, you will be asked to Select Report Card. ● Use the dropdown menus to select the Grading Period and Report Card. ● Click Load.

Report Cards:

1. Enter grades by student: go to the Entry by Student Column and select the student you would like to enter data for.2. Enter grades by field: go under the Entry by Field column and select the field you would like to enter for.3. Enter grade data by field group: go to the Entry by Field column and select the field group you would like to enter for. In the image above, Training: Attendance and Comments is one field group you could select to enter grades by.

Enter Grades By Student:1. Enter data for all field

groups. Use the “jump to” links to move your screen to certain field groups quickly

2. Click SAVE before navigating away from the student.

PUBLISH is only to be used when you are ENTIRELY finished inputting grades.

3. Use the drop down menu at the top of your page and select the next student

4. Click Load Student.

Enter Grades By Field:

This entry option will generate a list of your students and allow you to enter grades for one field at a time.

1. Use the drop down menus to enter all data for the field group for each student.2. Make sure to click SAVE before navigating away from the student you just entered data for.3. You can also choose the “Filldown” option to enter grades for all students at one time.PUBLISH is only to be used when you are ENTIRELY finished inputting grades.

Enter Grades By Field Group:

1. Use the drop down menus to enter all data for the field group for each student.2. Make sure to click SAVE before navigating away from the student you just entered data for.3. Click on the drop down to navigate between field groups.4. Click the Load Field Group button to load the next field group

PUBLISH is only to be used when you are ENTIRELY finished inputting grades.
