A No From e President It’s hard to believe that I am already halfway through my term as President, and looking back at the past two quarters, I could not be more proud of my chapter. After a phenomenal recruitment week, 40 fantastic new members joined Illinois Epsilon, and they have already become a vital presence in Northwestern’s Greek community. Spring quarter has been one of achievement for our chapter. We completed Values Programming with a day of community service in sites across the North Shore. It was a great way to give back and also bond between pledge classes while revisiting our Pi Phi values. Our chapter also had reason to celebrate after being named Chapter of the Year by Northwestern’s Order of Omega, a Greek honor society. In addition to Chapter of the Year, we were also awarded Outstanding Public Relations, Outstanding Recruitment Initiative, Outstanding Philanthropic Event and Outstanding New Initiative. All of this would not have been possible without all of Illinois Epsilon’s amazing women who work hard every day to make Pi Phi proud. I already cannot wait for fall quarter. There is no telling what amazing accomplishments and fun times our chapter has ahead of us. This newsletter is our way of connecting to the greater Pi Phi community – families, alumnae and friends – so that everyone can stay up to date with what is happening at Illinois Epsilon. If you have any questions or want more information, please do not hesitate to email me at [email protected] . Have a happy and healthy summer vacation! Mom’s Weekend at the Drake• • •

PI PHI MOM’S WEEKENDThis quarter, we held our first annual Pi Phi Mom’s Weekend. The weekend began with busses to Chicago for high tea at the Drake, and afterward everyone had the chance to explore the city and go shopping. The next morning our wonderful chef made hot brunch for everyone. It was such a fun weekend - stay tuned for Pi Phi Dad’s weekend in the fall!

SISTERHOOD EVENTSWe often have sisterhood events to provide an opportunity for members to hang out at the house and have fun. This quarter, we had a viewing party for the Golden Globes, a trip to the movies to see Titanic in 3D, and an easter egg hung at the chapter house on Easter that provided us with candy to get us through midterms! Additionally, we had sisterhood events complete with Andy’s Custard after chapter and many study snacks - especially during finals week!

PHILANTHROPYAll across campus, spring quarter is a time for philanthropies. For Pi Beta Phi, this means lots and lots of pie. We held Pie a Pi Phi in which students purchase pies in order to pie their friends in the face. We also have Pie Phight which consists of relay races and other fun team games that cause everyone to get covered in whipped cream and pudding! All proceeds benefit our national philanthropy, First Book, an organization that promotes literacy.

Additionally, our members also participated in the philanthropies of other Greek organizations, like Paddy Murphy Week for SAE, Dog Days for AEPi, or many of the sorority philanthropies. We also had a Relay for Life team and many of our members participated in NU Gives Back.

SOCIAL EVENTSThis spring, our chapter held a date party at Blue Bayou Bar and Grill in Chicago. The theme was “P is for Pi Phi” so everyone dressed in costumes that started with the letter “P”. We also went to the Botanic Gardens for our Spring Formal. Although it was raining and we couldn’t be outside, we were placed in a beautiful atrium. It was a great way to send off our seniors.
