Federal Grant Application Information

• Federal EIN (Employer Identification Number)All businesses must have an EIN. Museums fall inthe “other” category for non-profit corporations. Federal grant applications may ask for your EIN. (Some state forms also require it.)



• DUNS NUMBER The Data Universal Numbering System, DUNS, is a

unique nine-digit number issued for businesses and maintained by Dun and Bradstreet (D and B). It is copyrighted.

The Duns number is now required for submission of all federal grant proposals.

Imperatives for a Successful MFA Project

•Advances goals in approved strategic plan

•Benefits public by improving and sustaining public access to collections

•Assesses measurable impacts on audiences, e.g., changes in knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behavior, through outcome-based evaluation


MFA Grant Parameters•$5000 to $150,000 for up to 3 years

•1:1 match (exhibits must be open to public at least 120 days per year)
