YOUR JUDGES FOR THE DAYFiona Coward Scholes (Rossgilde) - Best in Show - Fiona was born into a family with a well established kennel of Golden Retrievers, both of her parents being Championship show judges. Fiona has owned, bred and shown Goldens, American Cockers and Field Spaniels. In 1975 Fiona started judging with Goldens and other Gundog breeds and is now passed to judge the Gundog Group with seven breeds. Other judging invitations include American Cockers at Crufts 02, Goldens at Crufts 03 and Flat Coats in 2010. The other member of her kennel is the Lhasa Apso and Fiona has bred several with Stud Book entries and handled them to CC level and numerous Open show BIS wins. Fiona has also judged many breeds within the Utility Group at Open Show level and awards CCs in Lhasas. Fiona’s overseas judging appointments include many European Countries and an appointment in Australia and also awards Green Stars in most of the Gundog breeds. Fiona is also Secretary of the South Western Golden RetrieverClubrunningshows,workingtestsandfieldtrialswithamembershipofabout500people.Nick Darley (Severnsett) - There has always been a Setter in Nick’s life starting with an Irish and was 10 years oldwhentheyhadtheirfirstEnglish,whohadalitterof7puppiesandwhichwasthestartof‘Severnsett’namedafter theRiverSevernwhich ran through the townwherehe lived.Nickfirstbecame interested inshowing in2005 when two puppies were kept, a dog and a bitch. Sebastian (Severnsett Rum n’ Black) did extremely well for Nick gaining his Junior Warrant and went on to win 2CCs and 2 RCCs. Nick then took over showing his sister, Darcy(ShChSevernsettDancingQueen)whowentontowin5CCs,4BOBsand5RCCs,theirfirsthomebredchampion! Nick is thrilled to have just made up Darcy’s son Dennis (Sh Ch Severnsett Mask of Zorro) their second homebred champion! Nick is looking forward to judging the English Setters at this show. Lynn Dumbrell (Bethlyntee) - Long before Lynn became involved in showing, she worked the cattle on their dairyfarmwithherdogs.ThefirstofthesewasarescuedGermanShepherdandthenin1985sheboughtherfirstBearded Collie to work. It was the breeder of this bitch that persuaded Lynn to show her. Beth went on to win a BOBatLKA.BecauseofLynn’sgroundingin‘fitforfunction’shebelievesthatdogsalongwiththeirspecificbreedpoints, should also be assessed on their physical ability to carry out the work for which they were originally bred. One of Lynn’s homebred Beardies who regularly worked their cattle went on to achieve her show championship title at eight years of age. Lynn has awarded tickets in Bearded Collies both here in the UK and in Australia and on the Continent. Lynn judges a number of breeds in the Working and Pastoral Groups at Open Show level as well as variety classes, the two groups and BIS. Lynn has also completed non-ticket appointments at General Championship Shows. Tania Gardner (Solomanmax) - Tania has owned Irish Setters for over 25 years, although did not start showing until 2007 as before she was busy competing with her horses. Tania took part in eventing all over the country and alsocompetedindressagecompetitions.Tania’sfirstjudgingappointmentwasalsointheequineworld, judgingdressage competitions and also judged conformation in the “show world”. Then the dogs took over! Tania was incrediblyluckythatRaffertyherfirstshowdogwhoisnowShChRiqittaAuthentic.Hehas7CCsand8RCCs.Tania has also gained JWs with 4 other younger Irish and took part in the KC Junior Warrant Final in 2012 and Fergal was runner up, being a huge thrill as it was held in the main ring at Crufts. Tania also shows her Afghan Houndsquitesuccessfully.Taniaverymuchenjoysjudgingandalwaysfeelsveryprivilegedthatexhibitorsbringtheir lovely dogs for her to judge. Tania thanks the committee of I&DCS for inviting her to judge in 2015 and looking forward to meeting exhibitors and their lovely dogs.Barry Gannaway-Jones (Mossland) - In Barry’s life there has always been dogs of one sort or another. Labradors have always been his main breed and he has bred, worked, shown and trained them for over 40 years. Over the years Barry has owned many other Gundog breeds as well as a couple of Hounds and of course not forgetting the Jack Russells. He says that now for his sins he also breeds Goldens in partnership with his wife Jan (Scarisbrook). Barry has judged the majority of the Gundog breeds over a period of time and is pleased to be judging Flat Coats at this show.Jan Gannaway-Jones (Pye) (Scarisbrook) - Jan as a child remembers there was always at least one dog in the house.ThefirstGoldenRetrieverarrivedwhenJanwas13andtheloveaffairstarted.Manyyearslater(toomany)Jan got the second one, a so called present for her daughter when she was 10! The dog was Fudge, aka Edgeley Eternal at Scarisbrook, who was to become Jan’s friend and biggest critic, for all this showing lark. Jan has been breeding Goldens since 1996 and judging them since 13th May 2000. lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to

dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise.
