Ike 4 th Grade Weekly News January 14 th - 18 th *In math, we will measure angles, draw angles, and complete our Mid- Module 4 review and assessment. We will complete the review on Wednesday and the Assessment on Friday. *In social studies, we are completing our learning on the Northeast region. There will be a quiz on Friday. Study materials will be sent home on Tuesday. *In writing, we are continuing to build our Literary Essay for the short story; Slower than the Rest by Cynthia Rylant. We will support the thesis statement we wrote (in class) with evidence from the text. We will continue to practice our grammar work with quotations as we quote our author and the story for the reasons why we think she wrote this story. *In science, are building our own Instruments in class as we are excitedly preparing for our Activity: Exploring Sound Energy with our own instruments made with materials from home. On Monday your child should return with their activity sheet 3C #1 and #2 completed and their materials. Links for ideas that we viewed on Friday are found on our daily planner under Science for your review. *In reading, we will we will be learning about allusions and how they relate to characters in mythology. Mid-year testing will begin this week and continue over the next few weeks. There will be NO new spelling words this week due to multiple shortened class times because of testing. This Week Notes and Reminders Science Notes Students will be building their own instruments in class this week. Please Do Not spend money on this; students are to use recycled parts or crafting materials we already own. (Think; Makerspace for Music) I have some materials in class already. If you have extra materials you would like to donate, I will be accepting a list of items on Monday and Tuesday. Please send in a small tote with your child. I have prepared a list of items we are looking for and you will find it posted in Class Dojo. Thank you! January Incentive: Students will be working on earning 85% or higher on Class Dojo Homework Please check your child’s green folder daily for homework.
